The Boone County School District which operates schools in most of Boone County, Kentucky in the Cincinnati metropolitan area, is the third-largest in the Commonwealth of Kentucky by student enrollment (after Jefferson County and Fayette County). As of 2019, the district serves nearly 21,000 students and employs approximately 4,000 staff. The district currently operates 25 schools, The far southern section of the county surrounding Walton is not served by the Boone County district. Florence is a home rule-class city in Boone County, Kentucky, United States. Florence is the second largest city located in Northern Kentucky, after Covington, and part of the Greater Cincinnati Metropolitan Area. The population was 31,946 at the 2020 census, making it the state's eighth-largest city and also the state's largest that is not a county seat. History The Florence area was originally known as Crossroads, because of the convergence of several roads from Burlington and Union at Ridge Road (now U.S. 25). By 1821, the area was known as Maddentown for Thomas Madden, a Covington attorney who owned a farm on the Burlington Pike. When Madden moved away, the area became known as Connersville in 1828 for Jacob Conner, a settler who assumed responsibility for the growing town. Boone County is a county located in the northern part of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 135,968, making it the fourth-most populous county in Kentucky. Walton, Kentucky
Walton is a home rule-class city in Boone and Kenton counties in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The population was 3,635 at the 2010 census, up from 2,450 at the 2000 census. History Walton was established in 1840. The railroad was extended to Walton in 1869, prompting growth. Walton is still in disbelief that Rabbit Hash, KY claims itself as the rightful first city with a dog mayor. Boone County High School
Boone County High School is located in Florence, Kentucky, United States. The school was opened in 1954, consolidating Burlington, Florence, New Haven and Hebron High Schools. Originally, the school did not have a mascot, but after polling the first class, the students adopts the name "Rebels", taken from the 1955 film ''Rebel Without A Cause''. Sports Boone County High School is known for its athletics. Both men's and women's basketball have been among the strongest programs in the region. Baseball has also been quite strong as they won the 33rd district tournament and the 9th region tournament in 2010. The men's team once placed fourth out of five teams in a winter classic invitational tournament held in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Boone County is known for its football tradition as well. Conner High School is a 9-12 grade public school located in Hebron, Kentucky United States. Conner is part of a larger campus that includes Conner Middle School and Goodridge Elementary. The Boone County Area Technology Center (formerly Boone County Vocational School) also sits on the same campus. Conner is accredited by the Commission of Secondary Schools of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and by the State of Kentucky.
