Blooming Grove, Wisconsin
Blooming Grove is a town in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,768 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Hope is located partially within Blooming Grove. Although once much larger, currently the town of Blooming Grove consists of a few scattered neighborhoods and individual properties broken into discontinuous sections by the cities of Madison and Monona. Blooming Grove will be dissolved and annexed into the city of Madison by 2027. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 9.1 square miles (23.5 km2), of which, 7.5 square miles (19.4 km2) of it is land and 1.6 square miles (4.1 km2) of it (17.40%) is water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 1,768 people, 723 households, and 456 families residing in the town. The population density was 235.8 people per square mile (91.0/km2). Earl Mullen (September 21, 1902 – June 23, 1969) was an American businessman and politician. Born in Deerfield, Wisconsin, Mullen graduated from Deerfield High School and then went to the University of Wisconsin. Mullen was a farmer, a salesman, and then operated a barber shop in Madison, Wisconsin. Mullen served as chairman of the Town of Blooming Grove, Wisconsin Board and also served on the Dane County, Wisconsin Board of Supervisors. Daniel Bechtel
Daniel Bechtel (July 31, 1840 – August 9, 1907) was an American politician and farmer. Born in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, Bechtel moved with his parents to Wisconsin in 1850 and settled in the town of Pleasant Springs, Dane County, Wisconsin. Bechtel went to business college in Madison, Wisconsin and moved to a farm in Blooming Grove, Wisconsin. He was also involved with the fire insurance business.
