Male (symbol: ♂) is the sex of an organism that produces the gamete (sex cell) known as sperm, which fuses with the larger female gamete, or ovum, in the process of fertilization. Birgir Ísleifur Gunnarsson (19 July 1936 – 28 October 2019) was an Icelandic politician and lawyer. He was the governor of the Central Bank of Iceland from 1991 to 2005. Birgir was the mayor of Reykjavík from 1972 to 1978, member of parliament from 1979 to 1991 for the Independence Party, and served as the minister of education from 1987 to 1988. Trudi Birger
Trudi Birger (24 April 1927 – 24 April 2002) was a German-born, Israeli-nationalized writer, biologist, and Holocaust survivor. After the war Birger migrated to Israel, where she founded the Dental Volunteers for Israel clinic and published the book ''A Daughter’s Gift of Love'', detailing her experiences during the Holocaust. Biography Birger grew up in Frankfurt, Germany, and she and her family went into hiding with the rise of Nazism when she was seven. They moved to Memel, East Prussia, in 1934. They were living in the Kovno Ghetto when she and her family were rounded up by the Nazis in 1944 and sent to the Stutthof concentration camp. She survived the war, marrying and immigrating to Israel with her family afterwards. In the 1960s, she became a microbiologist. She worked with children suffering from dental problems similar to those that she herself had suffered in the concentration camp after a Nazi guard knocked her teeth out. Pablo Birger (7 January 1924 – 9 March 1966) was an Argentine racing driver who raced in two World Championship Grands Prix for the Gordini team. He raced a Gordini Type 15 in the 1953 Argentine Grand Prix but the car lasted just twenty-one laps. Two years later he again rented a seat with Gordini, this time racing a Type 16, but spun on the first lap and collided with Carlos Menditeguy. Birger, who was born in Buenos Aires, died in a road accident in his native city at the age of 42. Malene Birger is a Danish fashion designer. She co-founded Day Birger et Mikkelsen in 1997 and By Malene Birger in 2003. Career Birger graduated from the Danish Design School in 1989. She began her career in the fashion industry in 1989 as designer at Jackpot by Carli Gry. She was also the head designer of women's wear at Marc O'Polo in Stockholm. In 1997, Birger co-founded the company Day Birger et Mikkelsen. She was the creative director of the company until leaving it in 2002. Hugo Birger (born Hugo Birger Peterson) (12 January 1854 – 17 June 1887) was a Swedish painter. Biography Born in Stockholm, his father was printmaker S. A. Peterson. Birger studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts from 1870 to 1877. In 1877, he was awarded with the "Royal medal" for his painting ''Syndafallet''. It was praised for its strong colors and shininess. Birger moved to Paris in 1877, and spent the summer of 1878 in Barbizon with Carl Larsson and Carl Skånberg. He debuted at the Paris Salon the following year with ''Rue Gabrielle'' (1879, now in the Gothenburg Museum of Art).
