Lord William Campbell
Lord William Campbell (11 July 1730 – 4 September 1778) was from a Scottish family loyal to the House of Hanover. His father was John Campbell, 4th Duke of Argyll. From 1752 to 1760, he served in the Royal Navy in India. In 1762, because of the Seven Years' War, he was scheduled to serve in America. He met and married a lady named Sarah Izard from Province of South Carolina, South Carolina in 1763. His brother-in-law was a future American rebel and member of the Second Continental Congress, Ralph Izard. In 1764, they returned to Britain where he became a member of Parliament of the United Kingdom, Parliament, representing the family seat in Argyllshire (UK Parliament constituency), Argyllshire. William Montgomery Campbell (10 June 1920 – 9 June 1996) was an Australian politician. He was educated at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and worked as a mechanical engineer and business manager. From 1945 to 1948 he was chief draftsman for Rheem Australia, and in 1948 he became the sales, works and manufacturing manager for Fischer & Porter, a scientific instrument company. William Henry Campbell was a politician and newspaper editor/proprietor in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Council. Early life William Henry Campbell was born on 18 July 1846 at Jersey in the Channel Islands, the son of Major-General Charles Stewart Campbell and his wife Elizabeth Charlotte (née Dale). His father was wounded at the Battle of Waterloo and was retired. The family moved to England where William Campbell attended private primary schools and Bluecoat School, a military school. He had a natural artistic skill, which he used to create pencil caricatures as well as oil and watercolour paintings. William Campbell (New South Wales Politician)
William Robert Campbell (1838 – 3 July 1906) was an Australian politician. He was born in Sydney to Annie Sophie Riley and Robert Campbell a merchant and member of the Legislative Council. He attended The King's School in Parramatta and was a pastoralist and merchant before entering politics. In 1868 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for West Sydney, but he was defeated in 1869. On 24 February 1881 he married Eglantine Julia Thomson. He returned to the Assembly in 1880 as the member for Gwydir, serving until his resignation in 1886. He was then appointed to the New South Wales Legislative Council in 1890, where he remained until his death at Elizabeth Bay in 1906. William Campbell (17 July 1810 – 20 August 1896) was one of Australia's richest pastoralists, one of the first people to discover gold in Australia, and a conservative Victorian politician, an inaugural member of the Victorian Legislative Council. Early life Campbell was born in Aberfoyle, Perthshire, Scotland, the fifth son of Christian McAllan and Finlay Campbell, the forester of the Duke of Montrose. From 1834, Campbell managed a substantial collection of sheep farms in Inverness-shire and Argyll in the west of Scotland. Australia Campbell migrated to Terra Australis, arriving in Sydney, New South Wales in December 1838.
