Belmont (also known as Belmont Valley) is a former village and unincorporated community in Lisle Township, DuPage County, Illinois, United States. It was first settled in 1835. It was incorporated as a village in 1980 and disincorporated in 2004, after which portions of the area were annexed into nearby Downers Grove. It is typically defined as the area west of Denburn Woods and east of I-355, in between Downers Grove and Woodridge. The Belmont Train Station is in the town. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. It is a type of gazetteer. It was developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the United States Board on Geographic Names (BGN) to promote the standardization of feature names. Belmont Station (Metra)
Belmont is a railway station on Metra’s BNSF Line located on the outskirts of Downers Grove, Illinois in the small community of Belmont. The station is on Belmont Road from Union Station, the east end of the line. As of 2018, Belmont is the 25th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,408 weekday boardings. Like Downers Grove Main Street, Belmont has connections to both Pace Buses, and the Village's own Grove Commuter Shuttle. Unlike the stations at Main Street and Fairview Avenue however, Belmont has parking vendors. The station underwent major renovations in the late 2000s. In order to reduce level crossing accidents, an underpass was installed. Belmont Road was re-routed underneath the tracks. Demolition began in late 2008, construction started in 2010, and the new underpass and pedestrian tunnel opened in 2012. Woodridge is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, with small portions in Will County, Illinois, Will and Cook County, Illinois, Cook counties, and a south-western suburb of Chicago.
