Beenleigh Railway Line
The Beenleigh railway line is a suburban railway line extending east-southeast from Brisbane Central railway station, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network. History Originally known as the Logan railway line, the line opened to Loganlea in April 1885 being the first section of the South Coast line which was opened beyond Beenleigh to Southport in 1889. The original city terminus of the line was Stanley St, South Brisbane until a dual track line was constructed from Dutton Park to South Brisbane opposite the Victoria Bridge opening in 1891. The railway originally approximately paralleled Fairfield Road between Dutton Park and Yeronga. Following the 1893 Brisbane flood, the Fairfield Deviation realigned the route above the flood level onto the current alignment. Dutton Park Railway Station
Dutton Park railway station is located on the Beenleigh line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Dutton Park. The station is one of the oldest on the network. To the west of the station lies the NSW North Coast dual gauge line primarily used by Gold Coast, NSW TrainLink XPT and freight services. History Dutton Park station opened in 1884 as Boggo Junction. It was the junction of the Wooloongabba line from 1884 until 1989. It was renamed Dutton Park in 1914. In September 1930, the standard gauge New South Wales North Coast line opened to the west of the station. Cross River Rail
Cross River Rail is an underground railway project through central Brisbane, which is, , under construction. Cross River Rail will see the development of a new rail line underneath Brisbane River, and the redevelopment of a number of stations in the Brisbane central business district. The business case for the project was released in August 2017, with construction work officially beginning in September that year. The project replaced the planned 2013 BaT Tunnel, which in turn had replaced the original 2010 Cross River Rail proposal. The project consists of a new 10.2 km line through the CBD from Dutton Park in the city's south to Bowen Hills in the city's north, connecting existing Brisbane rail lines. Brisbane Central Business District
Brisbane City is the central suburb and central business district of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It is colloquially referred to as the "Brisbane CBD" or "the city". It is located on a point on the northern bank of the Brisbane River, historically known as '' Meanjin'', ''Mianjin'' or ''Meeanjin'' in the local Aboriginal Australian dialect. The triangular shaped area is bounded by the median of the Brisbane River to the east, south and west. Park Road Railway Station
Park Road railway station is the junction station for the Gold Coast and Cleveland lines in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Woolloongabba. It is served by Beenleigh, Cleveland and Gold Coast line services. Immediately south of the station lies a triangle junction with the Cleveland and Fisherman Islands lines branching off. History In September 1930, the standard gauge NSW North Coast line opened to the west of the station. On 12 November 1942, a wartime siding opened at Park Road, followed by a second on 28 February 1944. After falling out of use in 1945, the yard was reactivated in 1949. Altandi Railway Station
Altandi railway station is located on the Beenleigh line in Queensland, Australia. It is one of three stations serving the Brisbane suburb of Sunnybank, the others being Sunnybank and Banoon. In 2008, an upgrade of the station was completed as part of the Salisbury to Kuraby triplication project. This included converting the eastern platform to an island, and a new footbridge with lifts. History A siding was lobbied for in the 1930s by the Runcorn Progress Association. A platform was first built at Altandi in 1933. It was officially named on 13 July 1934. The name was chosen based on an Aboriginal word for gum trees found in the area. Roma Street Railway Station
Roma Street railway station is located in the Brisbane central business district, Queensland, Australia. It is the junction station for the North Coast, Main, Gold Coast and NSW North Coast lines. The station is one of four inner city stations that form a core corridor through the centre of Brisbane. Although not easily visible to the public, the original 1873 Roma Street railway station building still exists within the modern complex and is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. Gold Coast Railway Line
The Gold Coast railway line is an interurban railway line operated by Queensland Rail in Queensland, Australia, connecting Brisbane with the Gold Coast. The line currently includes stops at 17 stations. In 2021, a journey from Central station to the terminus of this line is scheduled to take 1 hour 23 minutes. In railway engineering, "gauge" is the transverse distance between the inner surfaces of the heads of two rails, which for the vast majority of railway lines is the number of rails in place. However, it is sometimes necessary for track to carry railway vehicles with wheels matched to two different gauges. Such track is described as dual gauge – achieved either by addition of a third rail, if it will fit, or by two additional rails. Dual-gauge tracks are more expensive to configure with signals and sidings, and to maintain, than two separate single-gauge tracks. Merivale Bridge
The Merivale Bridge is a double track railway bridge crossing the Brisbane River. It crosses the Milton Reach of the river, slightly to the west of the William Jolly Bridge. Exclusively a railway crossing, it is located between the stations of South Brisbane and Roma Street, linking the northern and southern elements of the Queensland Rail City network.
