Beaudesert Kingfishers
The Beaudesert and District Junior Rugby League Football Club, more commonly known as the Beaudesert Kingfishers, was formed in 1962 as the Beaudesert Rugby League Football Club. The club is based at R.S. Willis Park in Beaudesert, Queensland and competes in the Gold Coast Rugby League. The club's emblem of the Kingfisher was adopted in 1973 and it currently fields teams in all junior grades, from under 8's to under 15's. Beaudesert is a rural town and locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Beaudesert had a population of 6,395 people. Beaudesert is the administrative centre for the Scenic Rim Region. Geography Beaudesert is south of Brisbane and west of the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast Rugby League (also known as the Kevin Bycroft Cup) is a rugby league football competition based in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It is under the administration of the Queensland Rugby League through the South East Queensland Division, which also administers the Brisbane and Ipswich competitions. Kingfisher
Kingfishers are a family, the Alcedinidae, of small to medium-sized, brightly colored birds in the order Coraciiformes. They have a cosmopolitan distribution, with most species found in the tropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Oceania, but also can be seen in Europe. They can be found in deep forests near calm ponds and small rivers. The family contains 114 species and is divided into three subfamilies and 19 genera. Christopher "Choppy" Close (born 5 February 1959) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. A robust three-quarter back, he represented Australia internationally and Queensland in State of Origin, and played club football in Queensland and New South Wales. Jamal Fogarty (born 13 December 1993) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as a for the Canberra Raiders in the NRL.
