Bay United
Bay United was a South African professional association football, football (soccer) club based first in the city of Port Elizabeth and later Polokwane. It played in the South African Premier Division and National First Division. The club came into existence in 2006 when the franchise of struggling National First Division club Maritzburg United F.C., Maritzburg United was purchased and relocated to Port Elizabeth. The club also purchased the Vodacom League franchise of the NMMU F.C. The club spent 2008–09 Premier Soccer League, one season in the Premier Soccer League, and the other years of its existence in the National First Division. Following the 2010–11 NFD season, the club's NFD franchise was moved to Polokwane, Limpopo. It played the 2011–12 season under the name Bay United. David Bright (football Manager)
David Bright (13 June 1956 – 25 January 2021) was a Botswana football coach. Biography He was considered to be one of Botswana’s most successful coaches. A former army major, Bright was often referred to by his former military rank. On 5 February 1992, Bright joined Mogoditshane Fighters in the Botswana First Division. During his 13 year spell, he led the team to three consecutive Botswana Premier League titles between 1999 and 2001. Bright has also managed Engen Santos, Bay United, Gaborone United and Bay United. He began his fourth spell in charge of the national team in July 2017, but was sacked on 19 February 2019, following an unsuccessful 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign. 2007–08 National First Division
The 2007–08 National First Division was the 12th season of the National First Division, the second tier of South African soccer. Due to a lack of sponsorship, the previously national league was split into two streams, a coastal stream and an inland stream, with the winners of each meeting in a final. The champions were Maritzburg United, who were promoted to the South African Premier Division in their first season in the second tier following relegation from the 2006–07 Premier Soccer League, alongside play-off victors Bay United. Ga-Rankuwa United and Western Province United were relegated to the SAFA Second Division. Inland Stream champions FC AK were initially found guilty of bribery and docked 15 points, but after a protracted appeals process, the sanction was reversed, and FC AK took their place in the championship final. The 2006–07 National First Division (known as the Mvela Golden League for sponsorship reasons) was the 11th season of the National First Division, the second tier of South African soccer. The champions were Free State Stars, who finished eighteen points ahead of their nearest rivals, and were promoted to the South African Premier Division. Points deductions PJ Stars Kings were deducted 15 points by SAFA for using unregistered players, and as a result suffered relegation to the SAFA Second Division. Nathi Lions and City Pillars were deducted 1 point and 4 points respectively for the same reason. Seshego is a township in the Polokwane Local Municipality of the Capricorn District Municipality of the Limpopo province of the Republic of South Africa. It was formed on 1 January 2005, by the merger of the University of the North and the Medical University of South Africa (MEDUNSA).
