Bay Area Rural Transit is a public transportation system in Ashland County, Bayfield County and Price County, Wisconsin. History In 1980 a group of individuals determined to find a solution to the transportation needs of area residents, researched ways to establish a transit system that would help people get back and forth to work. With the help of some very determined area leaders and a representative from the Department of Transportation, Bay Area Rural Transit was born in 1981. *In 1981 Bay Area Rural Transit first began with only two Routes, Route 1 (Red Cliff to Ashland) and Route 2 (Ashland to Odanah). *In 2006 BART took over operations for the Washburn Blue Goose. *In 2009 BART added Route 8 (City of Ashland) and Route 6 (Mellen) services. *In the Summer of 2013, BART moved into its new building at 2216 East 6th Street. *In 2016 BART began its first service in Price County with Route 11 (Park Falls). *In 2018 BART expanded service to Price County with ... Ashland County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,027. Its county seat is Ashland. The county was formed on March 27, 1860, from La Pointe County. The county partly overlaps with the reservation of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Duluth Transit Authority
The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) is the transit agency that provides mass transit service — currently, only buses — in the city of Duluth, Minnesota, United States. The agency also serves nearby Proctor, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin, as well as the eastern edge of Hermantown, Minnesota. The organization was formed in 1969 by the Minnesota State Legislature. In 2009, the DTA was named Transit System of the Year by the Minnesota Public Transit Association. Operation Express service is provided during rush hours to New Duluth (2X), Proctor (3X), Lakeside (7X – PM only), Superior (16X – PM only), and Hermantown (20X). During peak hours, an average of 45 buses will be in service at any one time. The transit agency also owns three park-and-ride lots and has bike racks on the front of every bus. Washburn, Wisconsin
Washburn is a city in Bayfield County, in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 2,051 at the 2020 census. The city is just east of and adjacent to the Town of Washburn. It is in northern Wisconsin, on the shore of Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay. Wisconsin Highway 13 and County Highway C are the main routes in the community. History In 1659, the French explorers Radisson and Groseilliers touched here on their trip along the south shore of Lake Superior. Red Cliff, also known as Gaa-Miskwaabikaang, is a Tribal Nation in the town of Russell, Bayfield County, Wisconsin, United States. Red Cliff is the administrative center of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. The reservation population is 1353, primarily Native American. Phillips is a city and the county seat of Price County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,478 at the 2010 census. History The town of Phillips was platted in 1876 and named after Elijah B. Phillips, the general manager of the Wisconsin Central Railway. It began as a logging town. In the dry summer of 1894, a devastating fire spread from the southwest and destroyed the town. The population evacuated, and 13 people died in the blaze. Glidden (also Chippewa Crossing) is an unincorporated census-designated place in the town of Jacobs in Ashland County, Wisconsin, United States. It is located on County Highway N near Wisconsin Highway 13. As of the 2010 census, its population was 507. History The community is named after Charles R. Glidden, a founder of the Wisconsin Central Railroad, along which it is located.
