Barnton is a civil parish and village in the northwest region of England, just outside the town of Northwich, in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire. It lies north and east of the Trent & Mersey Canal which goes through two tunnels (Barnton and Saltersford) to the west of the village. The village can roughly be divided into four parts: the old village which grew northeastwards from the southwest corner; the more up-market properties northwest-wards along and to the west of the main Runcorn Road ( A533); the council-built estate to the north west, largely between Townfield Lane and Runcorn Road; and the more modern estates (the largest known as the Locke estate after the builders) to the north and east. The village has no easily identifiable centre with some shops along the Runcorn Road and others by the new Health Centre in Lydyett Lane. Christ Church, Barnton
Christ Church is in the village of Barnton, Cheshire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Great Budworth, the archdeaconry of Chester, and the diocese of Chester. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. History Christ Church was built in 1841–42. The foundation stone was laid on 25 October 1841, and the church was consecrated on 7 October 1842 by John Sumner, Bishop of Chester. The land for the church cost £30 (equivalent to £ in ), and the church itself cost £1,400 (equivalent to £ in ). The cost of the land was met by Richard Greenall, vicar of St Matthew's Church, Stretton, Archdeacon of Chester, and a member of the Greenall's family, brewers in Warrington. The church website states that the architect was Edmund Sharpe of Lancaster. Barnton ( gd, Baile an t-Sabhail) is a suburb of Edinburgh, Scotland, in the north-west of the city, between Cramond and Corstorphine Hill and west of Davidsons Mains. Part of the area was traditionally known as "Cramond Muir" in reference to Cramond to the north. Charlotte Baptist Chapel
The Charlotte Chapel, also known by its previous name, St George's West Church, is a historic church building located in Shandwick Place, Edinburgh, Scotland. It belongs to an Independent Baptist congregation, and was originally a parish church of the Church of Scotland. History The congregation was established in January 1808, when Christopher Anderson, a young Edinburgh businessman, began evangelical work in the Pleasance area of the city. By 1816, his Pleasance church was too small and he bought Charlotte Chapel, recently vacated by a Qualified congregation which had joined the Scottish Episcopal Church and then moved to St John's Church, on Princes Street. This original two-storeyed building seated 750. Anderson was pastor until 1851 and membership peaked at 232 in 1873, although many more attended services.
