Baiter Park
Baiter Park is a waterfront area of Poole, Dorset. Baiter Park is part of Harbourside Park along with Whitecliff Park. The park is bordered to the north by Labrador Drive and Catalina Drive and to the south by the edge of Poole Harbour and Parkstone Bay. Baiter Park is to the east of Poole Town Centre. The Port of Poole can be seen across the water. History The park is built on recently reclaimed land, recovered from Poole Harbour In 2018, residents were asked about a proposed £160,000 project to renovate Baiter and Whitecliff Park. In 2019, improvements were announced by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council. Baiter Slipway, Poole Harbour - Geograph
Johann Georg Baiter (May 31, 1801 – October 10, 1877) was a Swiss philologist and textual critic. Life He was born at Zürich, where he received his early education. He went on in 1818 to the University of Tübingen, but could not afford to stay there, and had to return to Zürich, where for several years he was a private tutor. From 1824 to 1829 he studied at Munich under Friedrich Thiersch; at Göttingen, under Georg Ludolf Dissen; at Königsberg, under Christian Lobeck. From 1833 to 1876 he was ''Oberlehrer'' at the gymnasium in Zürich, where he died. Work Baiter's strong point was textual criticism, applied chiefly to Cicero and the Attic orators; he was very successful in finding the best manuscript authorities, and his collations were made with the greatest accuracy. Poole () is a large coastal town and seaport in Dorset, on the south coast of England. The town is east of Dorchester and adjoins Bournemouth to the east. Whitecliff Park
Whitecliff, is a small area of Parkstone in Poole, Dorset, England. It is situated near the eastern shore of Poole Harbour and is a very sought-after residential district of Poole due to its park and harbour view. Whitecliff Park Whitecliff Park or Whitecliff Recreation Ground (part of Poole's Harbourside Park) offers a cricket pitch used by various local teams including, those from Poole Cricket Club. Whitecliff is also home to several local football teams ranging from youth to amateur football. The park borders on Baiter Park to the west. The harbour is a drowned valley (ria) formed at the end of the last ice age and is the estuary of several rivers, the largest being the Frome. Poole Town Centre is an area of Poole, Dorset. It is just to the west of Poole Park. Poole Old Town is home to many historic buildings like the 15th-century Scaplen's Court, the 18th-century Custom House and the Victorian St James' Church. The Port of Poole is a cross channel port on Poole Harbour in Poole, Dorset, South West England. Along with Weymouth Harbour, Poole has the other major Channel Port in Dorset.
