Baiern is a community in the district of Ebersberg, Upper Bavaria, Germany. It is a member of the administrative community (''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'') of Glonn. The community's name is pronounced the same way as the German name for Bavaria ("Bayern"), although it is spelt differently. This is most likely derived from the old way of spelling Bavaria in German ("Baiern"). The constituent communities of Antholing, Berganger and Netterndorf are to be found within Baiern, as is the ''Jugenddorf Piusheim'' ("Youth Village of Piusheim"). Geography Baiern lies in the Munich region. It includes one traditional rural land unit – ''Gemarkung'' in German – also called Baiern. History Baiern belonged to the ' of Munich and the Court of Swabia of the Electorate of Bavaria. It was also the seat of a captaincy (Hauptmannschaft). ''Landkreis'' (district) Ebersberg is located in Upper Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Erding, Mühldorf, Rosenheim and Munich. Upper Bavaria
Upper Bavaria (german: Oberbayern, ; ) is one of the seven administrative districts of Bavaria, Germany. Geography Upper Bavaria is located in the southern portion of Bavaria, and is centered on the city of Munich, both state capital and seat of the district government. Because of this, it is by far the most populous administrative division in Bavaria. It is subdivided into four planning regions (''Planungsverband''): Ingolstadt, Munich, Bayerisches Oberland (Bavarian Highland), and Südostoberbayern (South East Upper Bavaria). Glonn
Glonn is a market town in the Ebersberg district in Upper Bavaria, Germany, about southeast of Munich. Geography The market town of Glonn is a health spa (''Erholungsort''), and the Glonn Valley is ringed by wooded hills, carved by the former Inn Glacier. To the south, the Alps are clearly visible on the horizon. The rivers Glonn, and Schrannenbach rise within Glonn's municipal area, where the lake Kastensee is also to be found. Just inside the neighbouring community of Moosach lies the Steinsee, another lake. Glonn is also home to three protected areas. Edgar Ende
Edgar Karl Alfons Ende (23 February 1901 – 27 December 1965) was a German surrealist painter and father of the children's novelist Michael Ende. Ende attended the Altona School of Arts and Crafts from 1916 to 1920. In 1922 he married Gertrude Strunck, but divorced four years later. He remarried in 1929, the same year his son Michael was born. In the 1930s Ende's Surrealist paintings began to attract considerable critical attention, but were then condemned as degenerate by the Nazi government.
