Bad Lauterberg
Bad Lauterberg is a town in the district of Göttingen, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated in the southern Harz, approx. 15 km southwest of Braunlage, and 20 km southeast of Osterode am Harz. Bad Lauterberg is known ''inter alia'' for the liqueurs, ''Schierker Feuerstein'' and ''Harzer Grubenlicht'', which are both manufactured and bottled here. Bad Lauterberg was the birthplace (1879) of the Polar explorer Alfred Ritscher. Osterhagen
Osterhagen is a village near the town of Bad Lauterberg in the district of Göttingen in Lower Saxony, Germany. The village lies between Bad Lauterberg and Bad Sachsa. Not far from Osterhagen is the Weingartenloch, a supposed treasure cave. The Karstwanderweg passes nearby. Osterhagen lies on the Uerdingen line, in the traditional area of the Eastphalian language, a Low German dialect. Osterhagen lies not far from the border of Thuringia. Bibiana Steinhaus-Webb (born 24 March 1979) is a German football referee. She referees for MTV Engelbostel-Schulenburg of the Lower Saxony Football Association, but since October 2020 only as video assistant referee. She was a FIFA referee, and was ranked as a UEFA women's elite category referee. Refereeing career Before becoming a referee like her father, Steinhaus played as a footballer for SV Bad Lauterberg. Eberhard Umbach
Eberhard Umbach (born 1948 in Bad Lauterberg) is a German physicist. He studied physics at the Munich Technical University and received his doctorate in 1980 with honors. After conducting research in the United States he habilitated also at the TU Munich in 1986. Umbach was professor at the University of Stuttgart from 1987 to 1993 and professor at the University of Würzburg from 1993 to 2007. From 2006-2008 he was president of the German Physical Society. Harzer Wandernadel
The Harzer Wandernadel is a system of hiking awards in the Harz mountains in central Germany. The hiker (or mountain biker) can earn awards at different levels of challenge by walking to the various checkpoints in the network and stamping his or her passbook to record the visit. With 222 checkpoints in three federal states and across five districts in the Harz and with membership in five figures, the system has gained a following Germany-wide. Purpose The idea of the ''Wandernadel'' (literally "hiking needle/pin" --> "hiking badge") is to give those holidaying in the Harz a worthwhile goal to achieve and encourage them to stay for longer or return. Weser
The Weser () is a river of Lower Saxony in north-west Germany. It begins at Hannoversch Münden through the confluence of the Werra and Fulda. It passes through the Hanseatic city of Bremen. Its mouth is further north against the ports of Bremerhaven and Nordenham. The latter is on the Butjadingen Peninsula. It then merges into the North Sea via two highly saline, estuarine mouths. It connects to the canal network running east-west across the North German Plain. The river, when combined with the Werra (a dialectal form of "Weser"), is long and thus, the longest river entirely situated within Germany (the Main, however, is the longest if the Weser and Werra are not combined). Göttingen (district)
Göttingen () is a district (german: Landkreis, links=no) in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the northwest and clockwise) the districts of Northeim and Goslar, and by the states of Thuringia (district of Eichsfeld) and Hesse (districts of Werra-Meißner and Kassel).
