BMW Museum
The BMW Museum is an automobile museum of BMW history located near the Olympiapark in Munich, Germany. The museum was established in 1973, shortly after the Summer Olympics opened. From 2004 to 2008, it was renovated in connection with the construction of the BMW Welt, directly opposite. The museum reopened on 21 June 2008. At the moment the exhibition space is 5,000 square metres for the presentation of about 120 exhibits. Architecture and design The "Time Horizon(s)" exhibition The museum shows BMW's technical development throughout the company's history. It contains engines and turbines, aircraft, motorcycles, and vehicles in a plethora of possible variations. In addition to actual models there are futuristic-looking, even conceptual studies from the past 20 years. The use of headphones and clever, often indirect lighting, lend the exhibition a largely peaceful atmosphere. The emphasis is on technical development and benefits of modernity. Automobilwerk Eisenach
The Automobilwerk Eisenach (AWE) was an automobile manufacturer in Eisenach, Germany. History Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach Heinrich Ehrhardt founded the Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach (FFE) in Eisenach on 3 December 1896 as a stock company. Initially, he produced bicycles and guns. After two years, he started to produce a motor car which he called the Wartburg, a licensed model of the French Decauville. The company was the third to manufacture cars in Germany, the first being '' Benz & Cie'' and the second being ''Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft''. His son Gustav subsequently took over the factory, which at the end of the 19th century employed 1,300 workers and was one of the largest in Thuringia. The Porsche Museum is an automobile museum in the Zuffenhausen district of Stuttgart, Germany on the site of carmaker Porsche. History The original Porsche museum opened in 1976 in a side-road near the Porsche factory. It was a relatively small ''works museum'' with little parking space and it was only big enough to hold around 20 exhibits (in rotation). The Mercedes-Benz Museum is an automobile museum in Stuttgart, Germany. It covers the history of the Mercedes-Benz brand and the brands associated with it. Stuttgart is home to the Mercedes-Benz brand and the international headquarters of the Mercedes-Benz Group. Rolls-Royce Museum
The Rolls-Royce Museum is a privately owned automobile museum in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg, Austria. Established in 1982, and officially opened to the public in 1999, it has been said to have the world's largest collection of Rolls-Royce cars. The museum was originally housed in a former textile factory owned by . In 2017, the museum's founder, Franz Vonier, died, and the local city and state decided to cease subsidising the museum's rent payments. The founder's successors, Bernhard and Johannes Vonier, therefore moved the museum to a smaller building nearby that they owned themselves. The official founding date of the German motor vehicle manufacturer BMW is 7 March 1916, when an aircraft producer called ''Bayerische Flugzeugwerke'' (formerly ''Otto Flugmaschinenfabrik'') was established. This company was renamed to ''Bayerische Motoren Werke'' (BMW) in 1922. However, the BMW name dates back to 1917, when ''Rapp Motorenwerke'' changed its name to ''Bayerische Motoren Werke''.
