Băneasa
Băneasa () is a borough () on the north side of Bucharest, in Sector 1, near the Băneasa Lake (). Like every north-side district of Bucharest, it is relatively sparsely populated, with large areas of parkland. Bordering on Băneasa Forest, Băneasa hosts the Aurel Vlaicu International Airport, used mainly by private jets and business aviation, and is home to Zoo Băneasa, the Băneasa railway station, the Băneasa Shopping City, and the Embassy of the United States. In the 2000s, the area has become increasingly upmarket, due to the construction of various luxury apartment developments in and around it (as are those in the Pipera- Tunari area). It is also home to many villas constructed before the 1930s that were refurbished in the 1990s and 2000s. Băneasa is linked by RATB bus lines to the Bucharest city center. Băneasa Railway Station
Băneasa railway station is a railway station in Băneasa, Băneasa borough of Bucharest, Romania, in the northern part of the city. It is situated on the Căile Ferate Române Line 800, main line to the Black Sea coast. The railway station was inaugurated on 17 November 1886, under the name ''Gara Mogoșoaia''. Traditionally, the railway station is used for the Royal departures and arrivals in the Royal Train; recently, on 16 December 2017, this was the departure point for Michael I of Romania, King Michael I's funeral train to the Royal necropolis in Curtea de Argeș. Băneasa Forest
Băneasa Forest (''Pădurea Băneasa'' in Romanian) is a wood in the north of Bucharest, Romania. Covering , the ground is located in proximity to Băneasa neighborhood and Băneasa Airport. On its southern edge, there is the Zoo Băneasa zoological garden. History After the Romanian Revolution of 1989 and the end of Romania's communist era, a large portion of the area was transferred from state property back to private persons, who had obtained judicial recognition of their family deeds. According to a 2007 estimate in '' Jurnalul Național'' newspaper, some 10,000 hectares had been reassigned through this process. As a consequence, Băneasa Forest also become a site for real-estate development, which was reportedly done at the limit of legality or against the law, and involved several Romanian public figures. The Embassy of the United States in Bucharest is the diplomatic mission of the United States of America in Romania. History The first diplomatic agent to Romania, Eugene Schuyler, was appointed in 1880 and subsequently reaccredited when Romania was declared a kingdom in 1881. The diplomatic ties were severed in 1941 during World War II and relations were reestablished in 1947. The U.S. Legation in Bucharest was raised to Embassy status on June 1, 1964. On December 4, 1964, William A. Crawford was promoted to Ambassador. He presented his new credentials on December 24, 1964, and served until October 10, 1965. Băneasa Shopping City is a shopping center in the north of Bucharest, Romania, opened on 18 April 2008. Located in the Băneasa neighborhood of Sector 1, it is part of the Băneasa Developments owned by Aurel and Radu Timofte. Zoo Băneasa
Zoo Băneasa is a zoo in Bucharest, Romania, located in a northern district of the city, called Băneasa. The park was founded in 1955 as a service of the Municipal Household Section of the People's Council of the Capital. At that time, small livestock were spread in the parks of Cișmigiu, Carol I, and Herăstrău, and in Băneasa Forest. Pipera
Pipera village is a neighborhood in Voluntari, Ilfov County, at the northern edge of the city of Bucharest, Romania. Development Until 1995, Pipera was an ordinary village. After that, an "El Dorado" of land transactions began. Plots of land that were US$1/m2 reached in 2005 the US$250/m2. In this time, more than 1,400 houses were built there, transforming Pipera in one of the most expensive residential areas. The Bucharest Metro () is an underground rapid transit system that serves Bucharest, the capital of Romania. It first opened for service on 16 November 1979. The network is run by Metrorex. One of two parts of the larger Transport in Bucharest, Bucharest public transport network, Metrorex had an annual ridership of 142,783,000 passengers during 2023, compared to over a billion annual passengers on Bucharest's Regia Autonomă de Transport București, STB transit system.
