Bila, Ethiopia
Bilo, formerly spelled Billo and Billò, is a town in central Ethiopia. It is located in the East Welega Zone of the Oromia at an elevation of above sea level. Bilo is the administrative center of Wama Bonaya woreda and was sometimes also known as Bila and Falle. Overview Local landmarks in Bilo include the Medhane Alem church. The Russian explorer Alexander Bulatovich visited Bilo 8 November 1896. At the time, it was a crossroads for Caravan route, caravans travelling between south-western Ethiopia and Gojjam on their way to the traditional Ethiopian port of Massawa. Bila, or Forest Bira, is a Bantu language spoken in the Mambasa Territory of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is also spoken by the Mbuti Pygmies who live in that area. Bila (sun)
Bila (also occasionally rendered Belah) is the personification of the Sun among the Adnyamathanha people. She is a solar goddess, as befitting the general trends among Australian aboriginal peoples, which largely perceive the Sun as female. Bila is said to be a cannibal, roasting her victims over a fire, the origin of sunlight. To do this, she sent black and red dogs to drag her victims, resulting even in an entire village being slaughtered. In a myth, the Lizard Men Kudnu ("Goanna") and Muda ("gecko") were appalled by these acts and attacked, prompting her to flee and cast the world in darkness. He then used a boomerang, catching her and making her move in a slow arc across the sky as it returned, it illuminating the world. For this act of heroism, lizards like goannas and geckos are respected by the Adnyamathanha. A similar, albeit likely unrelated myth, occurs in Woodlark Island. Vonani Bila is a South African author and poet, he was born in 1972 in Shirley Village near Elim Hospital. He is the founder and editor of the poetry journal ''Timbila'' and directs the Timbila Poetry Project in Shirley Village, Elim in Limpopo Province. He works as the co-ordinator of the Limpopo NGO Coalition and edits the newspaper Community Gazette. He has written eight story books in English and Tsonga for newly literate adult readers. His poetry has been published in the collection ''No Free Sleeping''. In 2003 Vonani Bila released his first music and poetry CD, 'Dahl Street, Pietersburg'. Jedediah Louisa Bila (born January 29, 1979) is an American podcast host and former television host. Bila Seyo
Bila Seyo was one of the 180 woredas in the Oromia of Ethiopia. It was divided between Gobu Seyo and Gudeya Bila woredas. Part of the East Welega Zone, Bila Seyo was bordered on the south by Wama Bonaya, on the southwest by Sibu Sire, on the west by Guto Wayu, on the north by Abe Dongoro, on the northeast by Jimma Horo, and on the east by the West Shewa Zone. The administrative center of the woreda was Ano; other towns in Bila Seyo included Bila and Jare. Overview The altitude of this woreda ranges from 1300 to 2810 meters above sea level. Peaks include Mount Uko, Mount Buke, Mount Deleta and Mount Gushis. Rivers include the Aleltu, Kurchi, Gorochan and Gibe. A survey of the land in this woreda shows that 38.7% is arable or cultivable, 9.6% pasture, 39.5% forest, and the remaining 12.2% is considered marshy, mountainous or otherwise unusable. Bílá (Frýdek-Místek District)
Bílá is a municipality and village in Frýdek-Místek District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 300 inhabitants. Geography Bílá is located about south of Frýdek-Místek and south of Ostrava, on the border with Slovakia. It lies in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids. The highest point is the Trojačka mountain at above sea level. The easternmost point of Moravia is located in the municipal territory.
