Béchir Bouazzat (5 October 1908 – 29 December 1944) was a French modern pentathlon, modern pentathlete of Tunisian descent. He competed at the 1936 Summer Olympics. He was killed during World War II. Gammarth
__NOTOC__ Gammarth ( ) is a town on the Mediterranean Sea in the Tunis Governorate of Tunisia, located some 15 to 20 kilometres north of Tunis, adjacent to La Marsa. It is an upmarket seaside resort, known for its expensive hotels and shops. In the marina bay area, there's a well served pleasance port with a naval shipyard, once privately owned and, as 2023, managed by the public port authority. Gammarth began as a small fishing village but following independence from France it blossomed into a resort from the 1950s. Tourism now provides the backbone to the local economy. The modern pentathlon is an Summer Olympics, Olympic multisport that consists of five events: fencing (one-touch épée followed by direct elimination), freestyle swimming, obstacle course racing, Laser pistol (sport), laser pistol shooting, and cross country running. The sport was first held in 1912, inspired by the Ancient Olympic pentathlon, traditional pentathlon held during the ancient Olympics, and designed to model skills needed by a soldier of that time. It has been a continuous part of the Summer Olympics since 1912, and a world championship has been held annually since 1949. The rules of the modern pentathlon have changed several times, especially in recent decades.
