Bágyogszovát
Bágyogszovát is a municipality in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, Hungary. It is the in the north-western region, 35 kilometers from Győr, in the direction of Sopron. History The first known written records of Bágyogszovát are from the 13th century. According to those documents, the first part of the village was founded in 1224, and was named Zooac. This name was changed to ''Szovát'' during later centuries. The village was the property of the bishop of Győr for more than five centuries. The other part of the village, Bágyog was founded later, but the exact date is not known. It was originally called Baguc. The two parts of the village were joined soon after World War II creating Bágyogszovát. Traffic Bágyogszovát is near Route 85, the main route of the county. Sopron
Sopron (; , ) is a city in Hungary on the Austrian border, near Lake Neusiedl/Lake Fertő. History Ancient times-13th century In the Iron Age a hilltop settlement with a burial ground existed in the neighbourhood of Sopron-Várhely. When the area that is today Western Hungary was a province of the Roman Empire, a city called ''Scarbantia'' stood here. The site of its forum is now the main square of Sopron. During the Migration Period, Scarbantia was believed to be deserted. When Hungarians arrived in the area, the city was in ruins. Csorna
Csorna is a town in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, Hungary. Csorna is located near the Fertő-Hanság National Park. There are two districts in the town: the Földsziget and the Csatárimajor. Etymology The name comes from Slavic languages, Slavic ''*Cherna/Chorna'' (black), see also e.g. Čierna, Černá (other), Černá or Czarna (other), Czarna. History At 13 June 1849, during the Hungarian War of Independence of 1848 and 1849, in the Battle of Csorna the Hungarian division led by Colonel György Kmety defeated the Austrian troops led by Major General Franz Wyss, who died in the battle.
