ByLock was a smartphone application that allowed users to communicate via a private, encrypted connection. It was launched in March 2014 on Google Play, App Store (iOS), Apple App Store The app was downloaded over 600,000 times from its launch in April 2014 until March 2016, when it was permanently shut down. The Turkish National Intelligence Organization (Turkey), National Intelligence Organization (, MİT) stated that the app was downloaded mainly in Turkey and ByLock users were as “Fetullahist Terror Organisation (Feto) which was formerly known as “Gülen movement” members. According to the security certificate inside the software, the author of the application is David Keynes. Gülen Movement
The Gülen movement () or Hizmet movement () is an Islamist fraternal movement. It is a sub-sect of Sunni Islam based on a Nursian theological perspective as reflected in Fethullah Gülen's religious teachings. 2016 Turkish Coup D'état Attempt
