Bustitution
A rail replacement bus service uses buses to replace a passenger train service on a temporary or permanent basis. The train service that is replaced may be of any type such as light rail, tram, streetcar, commuter rail, regional rail or heavy rail, intercity passenger service. The rail service may be replaced if the line is closed because of rail maintenance, a breakdown of a train, a rail accident or a strike action; or simply to provide additional capacity, or if the rail service is deemed not economically viable. Terms for a rail replacement bus service include bustitution (a portmanteau of the words "bus" and "substitution", or bustitute) and bus bridge. Substitution of rail services by buses can be unpopular and subject to criticism and so the term ''bustitution'' is often used pejoratively.An example appears in a 2009 editorial. Nambour Railway Station
Nambour railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the town of Nambour in the Sunshine Coast Region. History The railway connection from Brisbane to Nambour opened in January 1891. At that time, the town, then known as Petrie's Creek was renamed Nambour after the Nambour cattle station. On 16 December 1963, the present station building was opened by Minister for Transport Gordon Chalk. On 11 August 1988, a bus station was opened outside the station by Minister for Transport Ivan Gibbs. South of the station lie stabling sidings for electric multiple units. In 2016 a major upgrade to the station commenced. Services Nambour is the terminus for Citytrain network services from Brisbane with two services daily continuing to Gympie. Caboolture Railway Station
Caboolture railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the urban centre of Caboolture in the City of Moreton Bay. History Caboolture station opened in June 1889 as part of the extension of the North Coast Line from Petrie, which opened in March 1888. As part of the electrification of the line from Petrie, the existing station building was replaced and a new island platform built. The new station opened on 16 November 1985, while the electrification opened on 28 June 1986. The Kilcoy line branched off to the north-west. It opened in December 1909, closing in September 1996. Sydney Metro is a fully automated rapid transit rail system in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It currently consists of the Metro North West & Bankstown Line, running between Tallawong and Sydenham and consisting of 21 stations on of twin tracks, mostly underground. The first stage of the line opened on 26 May 2019, running between Tallawong and Chatswood. This line was extended from Chatswood to Sydenham on 19 August 2024 as part of the first stage of the City & Southwest project. Boddington is a town and Shire of Boddington, shire in the Peel (Western Australia), Peel region of Western Australia, located south-east of Perth.
