The Scottish version is a common variation of the word Moray, an anglicisation of the Medieval Gaelic word ''Muireb'' (or ''Moreb''); the ''b'' here was pronounced as ''v'', hence the Latinization to ''Moravia''. Murray was an American company whose assets are now owned by Briggs & Stratton and Pon Holdings. The corporate brand is a descendant of the Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company, which manufactured bicycles and lawn and garden equipment. The company went bankrupt in 2005 selling most of its assets to Briggs & Stratton and Pacific Cycle. Murray Street is one of four main east-west streets within the Perth central business district (CBD). History Murray Street was named after George Murray (British Army officer), Sir George Murray, Secretary of State for War and the Colonies from 1828 to 1830. Murray Motor Car Company
Murray Motor Car Company was an American automobile manufacturer based in Pennsylvania. Company history William N. Murray, who worked for a Packard distributor, founded the company in Pittsburgh in 1916. His goal was to create powerful, distinctive "prestige" cars. Murray was an automotive enthusiast and was said to have driven the first motorized vehicle, a De Dion-Bouton tricycle, on the streets of Pittsburgh. The company was located at 3727 Webster Avenue in Pittsburgh with the manufacturing facility at 3700 Grand Boulevard. The same year, automobile production began. In December 1916, the first vehicles were on display at the New York Show. Production ended in 1920. In 1917 James Radcliffe Murray, president of the company's other office in Baltimore was killed in an automobile accident while test driving a new car. The Murray (or just Murray) was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian colony of Victoria from 1856 to 1877. It was based in north-eastern Victoria, south of the Murray River. The Murray River is a river in the southwest of Western Australia. It played a significant part in the expansion of settlement in the area south of Perth after the arrival of British settlers at the Swan River Colony in 1829. It should not be confused with the Murray River in southeastern Australia, which is the longest river in the country. The river is one of the few major rivers close to Perth which is devoid of dams for public water supply. It includes a catchment area including a large part of the wheatbelt and southwest of the state, draining from per annum average rainfall country in the east near Pingelly, westward through the high rainfall parts of the Darling Range around Dwellingup with an average rainfall of per annum.
