Small Forward
The small forward (SF), also known as the three, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. Small forwards are typically shorter, quicker, and leaner than Power forward (basketball), power forwards and Center (basketball), centers but taller, larger, and stronger than either of the guard positions. They are strategic and are often relied upon to score, defend, create open lanes, and rebound for their team. The small forward is considered to be perhaps the most versatile of the five main basketball positions as they contribute offensively and defensively. In the NBA, small forwards typically range from 6' 6" (1.98 m) to 6' 9" (2.06 m); in the WNBA, they are usually between 6' 0" (1.83 m) to 6' 2" (1.88 m). This puts them at the average height of all professional basketball players because they are taller than the Guard (basketball), guards, but shorter than the Power forward (basketball), power forward and Center (basketball), center. 1976–77 New Orleans Jazz Season
The 1976–77 New Orleans Jazz season was the team's third in the NBA. They began the season hoping to improve upon their 38–44 output from the previous season. They came up three wins shy of tying it, finishing 35–47, and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the third straight season. Pre-season The Jazz previously had the rights to Moses Malone, having selected him with the first pick of the NBA's supplemental draft of former ABA players who were underclassmen. However, to retain Malone the Jazz had to forfeit the #1 pick in the 1977 NBA Draft. They chose to relinquish Malone's rights and retain the pick, which they packaged in a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers to acquire Gail Goodrich and the Lakers' 1978 1st round pick. The Lakers received the Jazz' 1977, 1978, and 1979 first round picks and their 1980 second round pick in return. The 1979 pick the Lakers acquired would be the #1 pick in that year's draft, which they used to select Earvin "Magic" Johnson. Dra ...

The 1973–74 Seattle SuperSonics season was the 7th season of the Seattle SuperSonics in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Following the resignation of Lenny Wilkens as a head coach after the 1971–72 season and a poor campaign in the 1972–73 season that saw the departure of general manager Bob Houbregs, the Sonics hired Boston Celtics' stalwart Bill Russell as head coach and general manager.
