Peachtree Street
Peachtree Street is one of several major streets running through the city of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Beginning at Five Points (Atlanta), Five Points in downtown Atlanta, it runs North through Midtown Atlanta, Midtown; a few blocks after entering into Buckhead (Atlanta), Buckhead, the name changes to Peachtree Road at Palisades Road. Georgia State Route 400
State Route 400 (SR 400; commonly known as Georgia 400) is a freeway and state highway in the U.S. state of Georgia serving parts of Metro Atlanta. It is concurrent with U.S. Route 19 (US 19) from exit 4 ( Interstate 285 -285 until its northern terminus south-southeast of Dahlonega, linking the city of Atlanta to its north-central suburbs and exurbs. SR 400 travels from the Lindbergh neighborhood in the Buckhead district of Atlanta, at I-85, to just south-southeast of Dahlonega. Buckhead Station
Buckhead is an at-grade subway station that serves the Red Line of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. This station is the first station only served by the Red Line. It is located in the Buckhead neighborhood in the median of State Route 400, a limited access highway, at Peachtree Road/ State Route 141. Lenox Square
Lenox Square is a shopping mall in the Buckhead district of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It is adjacent to Phipps Plaza, both of which are owned by Simon Property Group. Lenox Square spans of gross leasable area and has 198 tenants, making it the third-largest mall in Georgia. It is anchored by Bloomingdale's, Macy's, and Neiman Marcus, and is connected to the JW Marriott Buckhead hotel by parkway. The mall is known of the start and finish line of the Peachtree Road Races, with the mall being the start line of the July southbound running, and the finish line of the January northbound running. Henry Irby
Henry Irby (January 26, 1807 – February 20, 1879) was an American farmer who is credited with founding the city of Buckhead in what is now Atlanta, Georgia. Biography The son of a harness maker, Irby was born in York County, South Carolina, on January 26, 1807. In 1833, he married Sardis Walraven, with whom he had two sons. He later moved to Georgia for unknown reasons. On December 18, 1838, Daniel Johnson sold Irby 202.5 acres of land (known as Land Lot No. 99) in what later became Buckhead for $650. Georgia State Route 237
State Route 237 (SR 237) is a state highway located entirely within the city limits of Atlanta in the U.S. state of Georgia. Its path is entirely within Fulton County. Route description SR 237 begins just south of SR 13 (Buford Highway) in Midtown Atlanta, where the road continues to the south as Piedmont Road. It immediately crosses under, but does not intersect Buford Highway and Interstate 85 (I-85). There is no interchange with I-85. However, there are ramps to southbound Buford Highway from southbound Piedmont Road as well as a ramp from northbound Buford Highway to northbound Piedmont Road; there is no access to I-85. Macedonia Park
Macedonia Park, also known as Bagley Park, was a development in what is now the Buckhead Community of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It was located on the present site of Frankie Allen Park in the Garden Hills neighborhood. It was situated in District 17, Land Lot 60. While many African-Americans lived in the area from 1870 to 1920, streets and addresses were not assigned until the area was developed by John Sheffield Owens, a white developer, in 1921. Despite the area's development, the homes were systemically bought up by Fulton County in the 1940s-50s. The county cited water quality issues and ordered a clean-up of the area, which ultimately led to the razing of the neighborhood.
