Brødre I Blodet
''Brødre i blodet'' (''Brothers in blood'') is a Norwegian novel by Ingvar Ambjørnsen, published in 1996. Ambjørnsen received the Booksellers Prize for the publication. The novel is the third in a seven-volume series (as of 2020) which also includes: ''View to Paradise'' (1993), ''The Bird Dance'' (1995), ''Love Me Tomorrow'' (1999), ''Echoes of a Friend'' (2019), ''No One Can Help Me'' (2020), and ''Yoko Ono is a Charlatan'' (2020). Ingvar Ambjørnsen
Ingvar Even Ambjørnsen-Haefs (born 20 May 1956) is a Norwegian writer. He is best known for his "Elling" tetralogy: ''Utsikt til paradiset'' (1993), ''Fugledansen'' (1995), ''Brødre i blodet'' (1996), and ''Elsk meg i morgen'' (1999). ''Brødre i blodet'' ("Blood brothers") was turned into a successful movie, entitled ''Elling'', which received an Academy Awards, Oscar nomination in the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Foreign Film category in 2001. The English translation of the novel is called ''Beyond the Great Indoors''. Born in Tønsberg and raised in Larvik, his semi-autobiographical debut novel ''23-salen'' ("The 23rd Row"), criticized mental health care in Norway. Elling
''Elling'' is a Norwegian Black comedy film directed by Petter Næss. Shot mostly in and around the Norwegian capital Oslo, the film, which was released in 2001, is primarily based on Ingvar Ambjørnsen's novel ''Brødre i blodet'' ("Blood brothers", 1996), one of a series of four featuring the Elling character – the others are ''Utsikt til paradiset'' ("A view of paradise", 1993), ''Fugledansen'' ("The bird dance", 1995), and ''Elsk meg i morgen'' ("Love me tomorrow", 1999). The film was followed by an original prequel not based on any of the novels, ''Mors Elling'' (2003), and a sequel, ''Elsk meg i morgen'' (2005) based on the fourth and last book in the series. Petter Næss
Petter Næss (born 14 March 1960, Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian actor, screenwriter, instructor, and film director. He debuted in 1999 with ''Absolutt blåmandag'' and directed films based on Ingvar Ambjørnsen's ''Elling'' series, including ''Elling'' (2001) and '' Elsk meg i morgen'' (2005). He also directed films like ''Bare Bea'' (2003) and '' Mozart and the Whale'' (2005). In 2008, he portrayed Martin Linge in '' Max Manus:Man of War''. Since 1996, he has worked as a director at Oslo Nye Teater, including for ''Elling'''s stage version.
