Brynjar Karl Sigurðsson
Brynjar Karl Sigurðsson (born 17 September 1973) is an Icelandic businessman, basketball coach and former player. He played several seasons in the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild karla and was a member of the Icelandic national team. Following his basketball career, he founded the company Sideline Sports which designed coaching software used by the Premier League, NBA and the NFL. A controversial figure in Iceland, he has been scrutinized for his coaching methods and fight with the Icelandic Basketball Association to let his junior women's team compete in boys tournaments. In February 2021, the documentary '' Raise the bar'' which follows him and his girls teams, premiered in Iceland. Early life Brynjar was born in Breiðholt, Reykjavík in 1973. Íþróttafélagið Leiknir (, ), commonly known as Leiknir Reykjavík (), is an Icelandic multi-sport club. It is best known for its men's football section, but also fields departments in Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball and Karate. Akureyri Handboltafélag was a men's handball club, located in Akureyri, Iceland. History Akureyri Handboltafélag was founded in 2006 as a joint team between KA and Þór Akureyri. In 2011 it posted the best record in the Úrvalsdeild karla and finished as the runner-up to the Icelandic Cup. It made it to the 2011 Úrvalsdeild finals where it lost to FH in front of a record crowd of 2950 people in Kaplakriki. In 2017, the club was relegated from the Úrvalsdeild. and shortly after, KA decided to break off from the cooperation and fielded their own team starting from 2017–2018. The Valur men's handball is an Iceland professional team handball club from Reykjavík, that plays in the Úrvalsdeild karla. History The Valur men's handball team has a long history in Icelandic handball, the club is one of the most successful in the sport in Iceland: no team has won the Icelandic Championship and the Icelandic Cup as many times as the Valur men's team. Selfoss () is a town in southern Iceland on the banks of the Ölfusá river. It is the seat of the municipality of Árborg.
