Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. is a Canadian-American alternative asset manager. The company was founded in December 2022 as a spin-off of the asset management operations of Brookfield Corporation. At its inception, the company was headquartered in Toronto, and in December 2024 transferred its offices to New York City. Brookfield Asset Management is 13.8 per cent owned by Brookfield Corporation. Brookfield Asset Management is run by chief executive J. Bruce Flatt, who serves additionally as chief executive of Brookfield Corporation. In late 2024, the company's managed assets reached the trillion mark, making it one of the world's largest investment firms. 250 Vesey Street, formerly known as Four World Financial Center, is one of four towers that comprise the Brookfield Place complex in the Battery Park City, directly adjacent to the Financial District of Lower Manhattan in New York City. Rising 34 floors and , it is situated between the Hudson River and the World Trade Center. The building opened in 1986 as part of the World Financial Center and was designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates. After the September 11 attacks, the building sustained major damage to its roof; however, the general damage to the building was less than that to the other three towers. On October 23, 2001, about two dozen senior executives of Merrill Lynch began returning to their offices on a limited number of floors within the building, making it the first tower in the four-tower complex to be reoccupied after the attacks. James Bruce Flatt (born June 10, 1965) is a Canadian businessman and the CEO of Brookfield Asset Management. He joined Brookfield in 1990 and became CEO in 2002.
