Broadway-Fillmore (formerly known as Polonia) is a neighborhood in Buffalo, New York, United States. Geography Broadway-Fillmore is in the lower East Side of Buffalo. The neighborhood is centered along Broadway running west–east and Fillmore Avenue running north–south. History/Culture Broadway-Fillmore was once home to a large Polish/Eastern European population in Buffalo. The neighborhood has long since fallen into poverty and disrepair in the mid-late 20th century. Today a large African American population along with new immigrants are trying to breathe new life into the neighborhood. Goo Goo Dolls lead singer John Rzeznik grew up here. The neighborhood later became inspiration for the song "Broadway". John Rzeznik
John Joseph Theodore Rzeznik (; born December 5, 1965) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and producer. He is best known as the guitarist and frontman of the rock band Goo Goo Dolls, with whom he has recorded several chart-topping hits, including " Iris", " Slide", and "Name". Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Rzeznik grew up in a working-class Polish-American family, heavily influenced by music from a young age. Rzeznik formed the Goo Goo Dolls in 1985 with bassist Robby Takac, and the band achieved success in the 1990s with a series of albums that blended alternative rock, punk, and power-pop influences. Buffalo Central Terminal is a historic former railroad station in Buffalo, New York. An active station from 1929 to 1979, the 17-story Art Deco style station was designed by architects Fellheimer & Wagner for the New York Central Railroad. The Central Terminal is located in the city of Buffalo's Broadway-Fillmore, Buffalo, New York, Broadway/Fillmore district. Closed since 1979, several attempts to redevelop the site were unsuccessful.
