The Coos Bay Line of the Southern Pacific Railway opened a station at Broadbent in 1915. The local post office opened on August 19, 1916. Oregon Route 542
Oregon Route 542 (OR 542) is an Oregon state highway running from OR 42 near Myrtle Point to Powers. OR 542 is known as the Powers Highway No. 242 (see Oregon highways and routes). It is long and runs north–south, entirely within Coos County. OR 542 was established in 2003 as part of Oregon's project to assign route numbers to highways that previously were not assigned, and, as of August 2018, was unsigned. Central Oregon And Pacific Railroad
The Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad is a Class II railroad operating between Northern California and Eugene, Oregon, United States. It was previously a mainline owned by the Southern Pacific Railroad (SP) between Eugene and Weed, California (north of Redding, California) via Medford, Oregon. SP sold the route on December 31, 1994, in favor of using its route to Eugene via Klamath Falls, Oregon and Cascade Summit. The mainline of the CORP is . South Fork Coquille River
The South Fork Coquille River is the longest tributary of the Coquille River in coastal Oregon in the United States. From its headwaters in the Southern Oregon Coast Range, the river flows northwest to join the North Fork Coquille River at Myrtle Point, forming the main stem Coquille.
