While the population is greater in the neighboring Karmøy municipality, the main commercial and economic centre of the Haugaland region in northern Rogaland and southern Vestland is in Haugesund. Janove Ottesen (born Jan Ove Ottesen, 1975) is a Norwegian musician, born in Stord, Hordaland, Norway. He specializes in vocals, guitar and barrels, and is a leading member of the Norwegian band Kaizers Orchestra. History Youth and first contact with music Bryne, where Ottesen grew up, had few activities available at the time other than football, so he was given a guitar by his grandmother when he was a child. Ottesen and his friend Geir Zahl began writing music in his cellar, recording their music on a cheap tape recorder. The partnership between Ottesen and Zahl eventually evolved into the band Blod, Snått og Juling. In 1994 they produced their first studio album ''En glad tunnel'', which only sold 50 copies. Norway was represented by Ketil Stokkan, with the song "Brandenburger Tor", at the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 5 May in Zagreb. "Brandenburger Tor" was chosen as the Norwegian entry at the Melodi Grand Prix on 24 March. Stokkan had previously represented Norway in Eurovision Song Contest 1986, 1986. Before Eurovision Melodi Grand Prix 1990 The MGP was held at the Hotel Royal Christiania in Oslo, hosted by Leif Erik Forberg. Ten songs took part with the winner chosen by voting from regional juries, an "expert" jury and a press jury. Ketil Stokkan
Ketil Stokkan (born 29 April 1956) is a Norwegian pop artist who has performed as solo artist as well as the singer in the Norwegian band Zoo. Stokkan was born in Harstad. In 1983 he participated in the Norwegian qualifying heat for Eurovision with the song "Samme charmeur" which was placed second. In 1986 he won the national Melodi Grand Prix with the song "Romeo", written by himself, which came 12th on homeground in the Eurovision Song Contest final, which that year was held in Bergen, Norway. In 1990 he won the national final again with the song " Brandenburger Tor", the song ended up last tied with Finland. Stokkan now works as a school teacher in Nordkjosbotn, Balsfjord.
