Bright Future () is a liberal political party in Iceland founded in 2012. The party was a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) party and had links to the ALDE Group in the European Parliament,The Reykjavík Grapevine Election Guide 2013

Best Party
The Best Party () was an Icelandic political party founded by Jón Gnarr on 16 November 2009. The party contested the 2010 city council election in Reykjavík and won a plurality on the Reykjavík City Council, receiving 34.7% of the vote, defeating the Independence Party which received 33.6%. It was an observer member of the International Pirate Party, but not associated with the Pirate Party Iceland. Gnarr announced that the party was to be dissolved after he stepped down as mayor after the upcoming local elections in May 2014. Many of the Best Party's members joined Bright Future, while Gnarr himself stopped political participation. The founder and chairman of the party was the former Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr. Björt Ólafsdóttir
Björt Ólafsdóttir is an Icelandic politician who represented Bright Future in the Althing 2013-17 and is its current chairperson. She served as the Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources of Iceland from January to November 2017. Bright Future was formed to contest the 2013 Icelandic parliamentary election, which is when Björt entered the Althing as one of the new party's six MPs. She was elected chairperson of her party on 25 November 2017, after the previous chair Óttarr Proppé resigned following the results of the 2017 election, in which Bright Future lost every seat it held. Óttarr Proppé
Óttarr Olaf Proppé (born 7 November 1968) is a former Icelandic politician. He is a musician, actor, former Reykjavík City Councilor (Best Party 2010-2014) and former Member of Parliament ( Bright Future 2013-2017). Óttarr was elected chairman of the party in 2015. He was a member of the rock band HAM in the years 1988–1994, as well as the lead singer of the rock-cabaret band Dr. Spock. He also starred in several movies, including '' Sódóma Reykjavík'' from 1992, and '' Nói Albinói'' and '' Angels of the Universe'' from 2000. 2016 Icelandic Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Iceland on 29 October 2016. They were due to be held on or before 27 April 2017, but following the 2016 Icelandic anti-government protests, the ruling coalition announced that early elections would be held "in autumn". The Independence Party emerged as the largest in the Althing, winning 21 of the 63 seats; the Progressive Party, which had won the most seats in 2013, lost more than half its seats as it was overtaken by the Left-Green Movement and the Pirate Party. 2018 Icelandic Municipal Elections
Municipal elections took place in Iceland on 26 May 2018. 55 of the 72 municipal councils in the country were elected using open list PR. The rural municipality Tjörneshreppur did not hold an election as only one list was presented, whose candidates were thereby automatically elected. No list was presented in 16 municipalities. Municipal councils in those municipalities were elected using a form of plurality block voting were voters write in the names of their preferred candidates.
