Brian Roberts (Australian Rules Footballer)
Brian Stuart Roberts (28 April 1945 – 6 August 2016) was an Australian rules football player who played in the VFL between 1971 and 1975 for the Richmond Football Club (as well as a short stint with South Melbourne in 1975). Roberts was known as "The Whale" due to his enormous stature and played as a ruckman. He was the only player to have represented all three state teams: South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia. Early life Roberts was born in the UK, and with his family emigrated to Millicent, South Australia. In his late teens, the 199 cm ruckman was attracting interest from VFL clubs, but the new South Adelaide coach, Neil Kerley, persuaded Roberts to join the Club. SANFL Roberts joined South Adelaide in 1964 and debuted the following year. He learnt the craft of being a ruckman from his teammate and coach Neil Kerley. Brian Leslie Ford Roberts (born 6 November 1955), commonly known by his nickname Harry Roberts, is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. He made more than 400 appearances in the Football League for Coventry City, Hereford United, Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers. After ten years as a professional at Coventry City he joined Birmingham City for a fee of £10,000 raised through a supporters' "Buy a Player Fund". He won the club's Player of the Year award for 1989. Nicknamed "Harry" after the 1960s police-killer Harry Roberts, he published an autobiography entitled ''Harry's Game''. He went on to coach at Coventry City before becoming head of sport at a private school in Leamington Spa. Brian Michael Roberts (born October 9, 1977) is an American former professional baseball second baseman. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 2001, and played for the team until 2013. He played his final season for the New York Yankees in 2014. Brian Roberts (born August 28, 1982, in Los Angeles, California) is a retired American soccer defender who played for the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer. Player Roberts played college soccer at Yale University from 2000 to 2003; as a sophomore and a junior, he was named second-team All-Ivy, and as a senior he was named to the first team. Brian Birley Roberts (23 October 1912 – 9 October 1978) was a British polar expert, ornithologist and diplomat who played a key role in the development of the Antarctic Treaty System.
