Brett Prebble
Brett Prebble (born 23 September 1977) is an Australian jockey, currently based in Melbourne, Victoria. Having ridden over 1200 career winners, Prebble's most famous win came aboard Green Moon in the 2012 Emirates Melbourne Cup. Personal life Prebble was born in Ballarat, Victoria. He and his ex wife have two children, one of them, Tom, followed his father's footsteps and became an apprenticing jockey. Brett is relatives to Jim Newman, an up-and-coming apprentice jockey based in Perth, WA. He is the brother-in-law of two Melbourne Cup-winning jockeys: Michelle Payne, who won the Cup in 2015, and Kerrin McEvoy, who won the Cup in 2000, 2016 and 2018. Jockey
A jockey is someone who rides horses in horse racing or steeplechase (horse racing), steeplechase racing, primarily as a profession. The word also applies to camel riders in camel racing. The word "jockey" originated from England and was used to describe the individual who rode horses in racing. They must be light, typically around a weight of 100–120 lb. (45–55 kg), and physically fit. They are typically self-employed, and are paid a small fee from the horse trainer, whose colors they wear while competing in a race. They also receive a percentage of the horse's winnings. Caulfield Stakes
The Might and Power, registered as the Caulfield Stakes is a Melbourne Racing Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race run under weight-for-age conditions, for three-year-olds and upwards, run over a distance of 2,000 metres at Caulfield Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia. Prizemoney is A$1,000,000. History The race is held annually in October on Caulfield Guineas day, the first day of the MRC Spring Carnival. The conditions of the race in regard to distance and WFA is similar to the W. S. Cox Plate, held a fortnight after the Caulfield Stakes, and many Cox Plate contenders will use this race as a preparatory race. During World War II the race was run at Flemington Racecourse. Damien Oliver
Damien Oliver (born 22 June 1972) is an Australian Retirement, retired thoroughbred racing jockey. Oliver comes from a racing family; his father Ray Oliver had a successful career until his death in a race fall during the 1975 Kalgoorlie Cup in Western Australia. Robert Hickmott
Robert Hickmott (born 28 January 1969) is an Australian racehorse trainer and former Australian rules footballer, who played for the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). In 2012, he became the first former footballer to train a Melbourne Cup-winning horse. Football From Wangaratta, Victoria, Hickmott originally played for Tarrawingee in the Ovens & King Football League and the Wangaratta Rovers in the Ovens & Murray Football League (O&M). Douglas Whyte
Douglas Whyte (born 15 Nov 1971 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a former horse racing jockey and is now a horse trainer. He became Hong Kong champion jockey in the 2000-2001 season and won 13 consecutive titles, a record in flat racing. Jamie Kah
Jamie Lee Melham (born 7 December 1995) is an Australian jockey. In 2020/21 she became the first jockey to ride 100 winners in a Melbourne Metropolitan racing season. In 2020 and 2021 she was the leading female jockey in the world. In January 2025 she changed her name from Jamie Kah to Jamie Melham after her marriage to fellow jockey Ben Melham.
