The village is located on the northeastern part of the island of Averøya, about midway between the villages of Sveggen (to the north) and Bruhagen (to the south). Bremsnes Municipality
Bremsnes is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1897 until its dissolution in 1964. Bremsnes municipality surrounded the Bremsnesfjorden and it included parts of the islands of Averøya, Frei, and Nordlandet. Bremsnes essentially encircled the town of Kristiansund on the west, south, and east sides. The administrative centre of Bremsnes was the village of Bremsnes, where Bremsnes Church is located. Bremsnes Church ( no, Bremsnes kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Averøy Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Bremsnes on the eastern coast of the island of Averøya, just west of the town of Kristiansund. It is the church for the Bremsnes parish which is part of the Ytre Nordmøre prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1771 by an unknown architect. The church seats about 350 people. History Bremsnes has been a church site for centuries. The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1533, but it was likely built in the 14th century. Atlantic Ocean Tunnel
The Atlantic Ocean Tunnel ( no, links=no, Atlanterhavstunnelen) is an undersea tunnel that is part of Norwegian County Road 64 which connects Kristiansund Municipality to Averøy Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The eastern end of the tunnel is on Kirkelandet island in the town of Kristiansund and the western end of the tunnel is on the island of Averøya, just west of the village of Sveggen.
