Bradford J. Salamon
Bradford J. Salamon (born June 23, 1963) is an American multi-disciplinary artist who paints portraits in oils, depictions of human drama, and paintings of everyday objects. Salamon is also a sculptor, short filmmaker, curator and musician. Early life Salamon was born in Los Angeles, California to a creative family. His father Joseph enjoyed painting, and his mother Mary Lou loved to write and play piano. His family moved to Newport Beach, CA when he was two. Salamon learned how to play the drums at 13; and he began performing in local nightclubs, schools and churches at 16 with different bands. When he was 18, he created the drawings for the album cover of his band, Idle Lovell, which was then signed to Blonde Vinyl Records. A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face is always predominant. In arts, a portrait may be represented as half body and even full body. If the subject in full body better represents personality and mood, this type of presentation may be chosen. Roland Reiss
Roland Reiss (May 15, 1929– December 13, 2020) was an American artist known for his miniature tableaux and paintings. Early life, education and military service Roland Reiss was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1929, during the Great Depression. He moved with his family at age 13 to Pomona, California. While he attended Pomona High School, he was inspired to become an artist after hearing Millard Sheets speak on art. He later studied art at Mt. San Antonio College and UCLA. He served in the US Army as a Sergeant First Class. After winning a national art price he managed forty artists working at Camp Roberts. Kim Victoria Abeles (born August 28, 1952) is an American interdisciplinary artist and professor emeritus. She was born in Richmond Heights, Missouri, and currently lives in Los Angeles. She is described as an activist artist because of her work's social and political nature. In her work, she’s able to express these issues and shine a light on them to larger audiences. She’s able to show the significance of the issues by creating a piece that involves an object and adds the struggle attached to it, which represents what is happening in current events. Kalev Mark Kostabi (born November 27, 1960) is an American painter, sculptor and composer. Early life Kostabi was born in Los Angeles on November 27, 1960, to Estonian immigrants Kaljo and Rita Kostabi. He was raised in Whittier, California and studied drawing and painting at California State University, Fullerton. Ray Turner (born in 1958), is an American artist known primarily for his portrait and landscape paintings. Turner lives and works in Pasadena, California. He received his BFA from Art Center College of Design in 1985 where he subsequently taught for 13 years as a professor of painting and drawing. Llyn Foulkes (born 17 November 1934, in Yakima, Washington) is an American artist living and working in Los Angeles. As a student at Chouinard Art Institute (now CalArts), Foulkes began exhibiting with the Ferus Gallery, Los Angeles in 1959. He held his first one-man exhibition at Ferus in 1961. Other early solo exhibitions included the Pasadena Art Museum (1962) and the Oakland Art Museum (1964). Donald Jess Bachardy (born May 18, 1934) is an American portrait artist. He resides in Santa Monica, California. Bachardy was the partner of Christopher Isherwood for more than 30 years. Early life Born in Los Angeles, California, Bachardy studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and the Slade School of Art in London. His first one-man exhibition was held in October 1961 at the Redfern Gallery in London. He met the writer Christopher Isherwood on Valentine's Day 1953, when he was 18 and Isherwood was 48.
