Brackenstown is a neighbourhood in the north Dublin suburb of Swords in Ireland. It developed in west Swords on the north side of the Ward River. It developed along the Brackenstown Road, which runs from Swords to the townland of Knocksedan. It has shops, including a supermarket and a pub, and is adjacent to the Ward River Valley Park. Brackenstown is also a parish in the Fingal North deanery of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin. Layout Brackenstown is located west of the centre of Swords, along the Brackenstown Road. It is on the northside of the Ward River, between the neighbourhood of Rathbeale and the Ward River Valley Park. The Brackenstown Road runs east–west through the area and is the main road providing access to the area. The Ward River Valley Park is located on the south side of the road and most of the housing estates are on the north side of the road. Swords ( or ), the county town of Fingal, is a large suburban town on the east coast of Ireland, situated ten kilometres north of Dublin city centre. The town was reputedly founded . Located on the Ward River, Swords features Swords Castle, a restored medieval castle, a holy well from which it takes its name, a round tower and a Norman tower. Knocksedan, Swords
Knocksedan () is a townland near the town of Swords in Ireland. It is situated along the Naul Road (R108) to the west of Swords on either side of the Ward River. In advance of the 1916 Easter Rising, Knocksedan was muster point for the Fingal battalion of the Irish Volunteers. Housing estate Knocksedan Demesne is a housing estate on the east side of the Naul Road. It is separated from the main town of Swords, and contains approximately 160 houses with no shops or community facilities. In January 2017, the 41X Dublin Bus route began a service from Knocksedan after campaigning from the residents. A localink bus, provided by Flexibus Local Link, serves the estate between Knocksedan and Swords Pavilions, however this stops at 7pm every night and does not run on Sundays. The Irish grid reference system is a system of geographic grid references used for paper mapping in Ireland (both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland). The Irish grid partially overlaps the British grid, and uses a similar co-ordinate system but with a meridian more suited to its westerly location.
