Boyana
Boyana ( ) is a neighbourhood of the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, part of Vitosha municipality and situated 8 km south of the city centre, in the outskirts of Vitosha. Boyana is one of the most expensive parts of Sofia to live in. The residents are primarily wealthy business people, government officials, and other prominent members of Bulgarian society. Formerly an outlying village, it was incorporated into Sofia in 1961. Boyana Church
The Boyana Church () is a medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church situated on the outskirts of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, in the Boyana quarter. In 1979, the building was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The east wing of the two-story church was originally constructed in the late 10th or early 11th century, then the central wing was added in the 13th century under the Second Bulgarian Empire, the whole building being finished with a further expansion to the west in the middle of the 19th century. A total of 89 scenes with 240 human images are depicted on the walls of the church. Boyana Lake
Boyana Lake is an artificial lake in Vitosha mountain near the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia. It is located 1.5 km Southeast from Sofia's Boyana neighborhood. Initially the boyana lake was a pond. It was later transformed into a lake with the establishment of the Vitosha aqueduct over Sofia in 1906. In the Vitosha lake you can find true toads from the family Bufonidae, true frogs from the family Ranidae, and Northern crested newts, a type of Salamandridae. The lake has an area of approximately 2000 square meters, and is located at 1027 meters altitude above sea level. Location The Boyana lake can be reached within 40 minutes of hiking with average speed from the Boyana district of Sofia. Boyana Waterfall
Boyana Waterfall is the largest waterfall in the Vitosha mountain massif in western Bulgaria, with a height of 25 meters. Location Boyana Waterfall is formed under the waters of the Boyana River, which streams down the northern hills of Vitosha mountain. The base of the waterfall is located at 1260 meters altitude. The area has a well preserved and uncontaminated nature. In sunny days, the waterfall can sometimes be seen from the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. During the cold days of winter, the Boyana Waterfall freezes due to the shadowy valley of its location. The waterfall is easily accessible by foot but not by car. It is one of the important natural landmarks near Sofia. The quickest route to the Boyana waterfall is through the Kopitoto hotel and takes about one hour of walking. Nu Boyana Film
Nu Boyana Film Studios () are film studios situated in Sofia, Bulgaria. The film production complex was opened in 1962 and was state owned until 2005 when it was bought by one of the longest-running independent film companies in Hollywood, Nu Image and Millennium Films. With an approximate area of 30 hectares (75 acres), the complex features 10 sound stages and various standing sets – New York, London, Middle Eastern street, St Paul's Cathedral and a big ancient set, complete with a Roman colosseum. Boyana Film was the main location for film production during the communist regime when Bulgarian cinema was at its peak. Boyana Glacier
Boyana Glacier (, ) in Levski Ridge, Tangra Mountains on Livingston Island, South Shetland Islands in Antarctica is situated southeast of Macy Glacier and west-southwest of Srebarna Glacier. It is bounded by Vazov Rock on the west, St. Naum Peak, Starosel Gate, Silistra Knoll and Kotel Gap on the north, and Christoff Cliff on the east. The glacier extends 3 km in east-west direction and 1.6 km in north-south direction, and flows southeastward into the Bransfield Strait between Vazov Point and Aytos Point. The Boyanska reka (, "Boyana river") is a river in western Bulgaria, a left tributary to the river Perlovska. Vitosha
Vitosha ( ), the ancient ''Scomius'' or ''Scombrus'', is a mountain massif, on the outskirts of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Vitosha is one of the symbols of Sofia and the closest site for hiking, alpinism and skiing. Convenient bus lines and rope ways render the mountain easily accessible.
