Boy Edgar
Boy Edgar, pseudonyms of ''George Willem Fred Edgar'' (Amsterdam, 31 March 1915 – 8 April 1980), was a Dutch people, Dutch jazz conductor, pianist and trumpeter.Huygens ING – Amsterdam. Life and career Boy Edgar grew up in Amsterdam as the son of a merchant in colonial products. His father was of Armenians, Armenian descent and his mother Jewish and was from the Dutch East Indies. Initially, the Edgar family was doing well. During his childhood, Boy Edgar was able to visit the Dutch East Indies several times. The individual must have made significant contributions to the Dutch jazz scene over a significant period of time. Wessel Ilcken
Wessel Ilcken (December 2, 1923 in Hilversum – July 13, 1957 in Loosdrecht) was a Dutch jazz drummer. Ilcken lived in Paris in his youth, where he began to play drums and played in Piet van Dijk's band. In 1945, he married singer Rita Reys, and led his own group from 1950, touring widely throughout western Europe. He played extensively on the Dutch jazz scene, including on the albums ''Jazz Behind the Dikes'' (1955–56), and worked with the American musicians Joe Carroll, Bob Cooper, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Kenton, and Herbie Mann, as well as the Swedish Lars Gullin. Yad Vashem (; ) is Israel's official memorial institution to the victims of Holocaust, the Holocaust known in Hebrew language, Hebrew as the (). The Bijlmermeer (), or colloquially the Bijlmer (), is a neighborhood in the Amsterdam-Zuidoost borough ( Dutch: ''stadsdeel'') in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The other neighborhoods in Amsterdam-Zuidoost are Gaasperdam, Bullewijk, Venserpolder and Driemond. History Bijlmermeer The Bijlmermeer was originally the name of a lake. In the early 17th century, more agricultural land was needed near Amsterdam. The grain imports from countries at the Baltic Sea became more expensive. So it was decided to drain the Bijlmermeer to increase domestic grain production. Land reclamation began in the 1620s. By 1626 it was transformed into a polder. It was also a former municipality in North Holland. In 1840, there were 23 houses and circa 180 inhabitants. Between 1812 and 1817, the municipality was annexed by Weesp. Duivendrecht
Duivendrecht () is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Ouder-Amstel, and lies about 6 km southeast of Amsterdam’s city centre. It is a suburb of Amsterdam. History The village was first mentioned in 1308 as Doevendrecht, and means "ferry of Doeve (person)." Duivendrecht started to developed in the 19th century and has become encircled by Amsterdam, Diemen and the Bijlmermeer.
