The men's flyweight event was part of the Boxing at the 1972 Summer Olympics, boxing programme at the 1972 Summer Olympics. The weight class allowed boxers of up to 51 kilograms to compete. Chris Ius
Chris Ius (born January 14, 1954, in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian boxer, who represented his native country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1972. In both tournaments he was eliminated in the third round. Boxing Club Chris was one of the many outstanding boxers that were part of the North West Eagles Boxing Club in North Vancouver. His primary coach was his uncle Elio Ius. Another key boxer at the club during the Ius boxing journey in the Seventies was Les Hamilton and Ian Douglas. Others were Dan Wright and David Ius. Canadian Championships Chris Ius was a four-time senior national boxing champion in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1976. Vanlal Dawla
Vanlal Dawla (born 10 November 1947) is an Indian-born Burmese boxer. He competed in the men's flyweight event at the 1972 Summer Olympics. He was the national champion of Burma in 1967–68 and 1971–72. Career Vanlal Dawla was born to a Union Military Police officer in Mizoram and later also joined the Union Military Police. He represented the Chin State in sports until 1965 when he joined the Burmese Navy. Jan Muhammad Baloch ( 3 August 2012; sometimes spelled Jan Mohammad Baloch), was a Pakistani former olympian boxer, coach of the Pakistan national boxing team appointed by the Pakistan Boxing Federation and the founder of RCD Boxing Club. Martín Vargas
Martín Vargas Fuentes (born 24 January 1955) is a Chilean former professional boxer who challenged for a world title four times. As an amateur, he represented his native country at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. Professional career On March 23, 1973, Vargas made his professional debut, beating Martín Muñoz by a decision in six rounds. He won twelve fights in a row before drawing (tying) with Nelson Muñoz on December 13, 1973. In 1974, he tasted defeat for the first time when he was knocked out in seven rounds by Alfredo Alcayaga.
