Boxing At The 1960 Summer Olympics – Flyweight
The men's flyweight event was part of the Boxing at the 1960 Summer Olympics, boxing programme at the 1960 Summer Olympics. The weight class was the lightest contested, and allowed boxers of up to 51 kilograms to compete. The competition was held from 25 August to 5 September 1960. 33 boxers from 33 nations competed. Competition format The competition was a straight single-elimination tournament, with no bronze medal match (two bronze medals were awarded, one to each semifinal loser). Palazzo dello Sport or PalaEUR, formerly known as PalaLottomatica, is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment arena in Rome, Italy. It is located in the heart of the well known modern EUR complex. Henryk Jerzy Kukier (1 January 1930 – 5 December 2020) was a Polish boxer. Career Kukier won the gold medal in the Flyweight class at the 1953 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Warsaw, and the bronze medal at the 1955 European Amateur Boxing Championships in West Berlin.
