Bourlémont
Bourlémont is a hill located in Ronchamp, Haute-Saône, eastern France with an elevation of above sea level. It is located in the Ballons des Vosges Nature Park, and is an area of cultural tourism, given that the chapel of Notre Dame du Haut is located on it. Toponymy In the 18th century, Bourlémont was described as "Notre-Dame-de-Bourg-les-monts", which indicates that there was a fortified town on the hill. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the hill was called the "Bourg Mountain". Geography Bourlémont is located in Ronchamp, Haute-Saône, Franche-Comté, France. It can be accessed from Chapel Street on the southeastern side of the summit and the Stations of the Cross, Way of the Cross footpath which was created in 1890. The GR 59 and Dukes hiking trails pass along the eastern side of the hill. The hill has an altitude of , meaning that it is higher than the centre of Ronchamp (), which is at the foot of the hill. Sainte Marie Coal Mine
The Sainte Marie Coal Mine is one of the major Ronchamp coal mines, located in Bourlémont (Ronchamp, Haute-Saône), in eastern France. It was worked intermittently between 1866 and 1958, then finally closed. The concrete headframe was reinforced in 1924 by Charles Tournay. This Liège engineer and architect specialized in constructing concrete headframes. On 29 March 2001, the headframe was listed as a French national ''monument historique''. et Background In 1830, a survey was conducted atop Bourlémont, Bourlémont Hill, near the eventual site of the Sainte Marie Coal Mine, but no trace of coal was discovered. By the 1860s, the Stéphanien coal basin had been found, and the Saint-Charles, Saint-Joseph Coal Mine, Saint-Joseph, Sainte-Pauline, and Sainte-Barbe Coal Mine, Sainte-Barbe mines were opened.
