The Boulder Strip gaming market is a division used by the Nevada Gaming Commission for a segment of the casino industry in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The region is named for the Boulder Highway which is the dominant highway in the region. The American Gaming Association lists Boulder Strip as #10 out of the top 20 US Casino Markets by annual revenue, just ahead of Reno/Sparks, Nev. Nevada Gaming Commission
The Nevada Gaming Commission is a Nevada state governmental agency involved in the regulation of casinos throughout the state, along with the Nevada Gaming Control Board. In 1959, the Nevada Gaming Commission ("Commission") was created by the passage of the Gaming Control Act ("Act"), Nevada Revised Statutes Chapters 462–466, by the Nevada Legislature. The Act laid the foundation for what would become modern gaming regulation. The Commission consists of five members appointed by the governor to four-year terms, with one member acting as Chair. The Commission members serve in a part-time capacity. Boulder Station
The Boulder station is a retired train depot in Boulder, Colorado. It was originally built in 1890 in downtown Boulder to serve as a depot for the Union Pacific railroad. The depot was built in a modified Richardson Romanesque style from native Boulder County stone. The depot operated as a train station at its original location until 1957, when a new depot opened and replaced it. The depot was purchased by a bus company and it functioned as a bus transit terminal until 1973, when the Boulder Jaycees' purchase saved it from demolition; it was moved it to a location near the original Boulder County, Colorado Fairgrounds. The efforts of the Boulder Jaycees and Historic Boulder, Inc. were instrumental in preserving the structure. Eastside Cannery Hotel And Casino
Eastside Cannery Casino and Hotel is a closed locals casino on the Boulder Strip in Sunrise Manor, Nevada, owned and operated by Boyd Gaming. The Eastside Cannery includes a casino and 307 rooms in a 16-story tower. It was developed by Cannery Casino Resorts at a cost of $250 million. It is a sister property to the original Cannery Casino and Hotel, opened in North Las Vegas in 2003. The Eastside Cannery replaced the Nevada Palace, a small hotel-casino that had occupied a portion of the land since 1979. Construction began on April 30, 2007, and the Eastside Cannery opened on August 28, 2008. It was the first hotel-casino to be built on Boulder Highway since Boulder Station, which opened in 1994. The Pass Casino, formerly the Eldorado Casino, is a casino in the Water Street District, located in downtown Henderson, Nevada. It is owned and operated by DeSimone Gaming. First opened in 1961, it was owned by Boyd Gaming from 1993 to 2020. The casino has over 350 slot machines, 6 table games, and a sportsbook. Arizona Charlie's Boulder is a hotel and locals casino in Paradise, Nevada, part of the Las Vegas Valley. The hotel-casino is located on Boulder Highway, also known as the Boulder Strip. Fiesta Henderson (formerly The Reserve) was a hotel and casino located on of land at 777 West Lake Mead Parkway in Henderson, Nevada. Gem Gaming announced the project in 1995, as The Reserve, with an opening planned for July 4, 1996. Construction began later in 1995, and the project was topped off in May 1996, with an opening scheduled for October 1. Steve Rebeil and Dominic Magliarditi, both of Gem Gaming, were the project developers. Later in 1996, Ameristar Casinos planned to purchase Gem Gaming, and construction slowed to allow for an expanded redesign of the project, which was then expected to open between March and April 1997.
