Botafogo Futebol Clube, commonly referred to as Botafogo-SP or Botafogo de Ribeirão Preto is a Brazilian association football club in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. They currently play in the Série B, the second tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Paulista Série A1, the top tier of the São Paulo state football league. The club's home colours are red, white and black and the team mascot is a panther.   History In the beginning of the century, the city of Ribeirão Preto had at least three clubs: União, Paulistano Tiberense and Ideal Futebol Clube. In 1918, representatives of Ideal, proposed a merger of the clubs in the neighborhood. Besides the members of the boards of the three clubs, employees from the old Mogiana Railroad, and employees from the Antarctica Paulista Company participated in the meeting. Estádio Santa Cruz
The Estádio Santa Cruz is a multi-purpose stadium in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo state, Brazil. Primarily used for football matches, it has a seating capacity of 29,292 and was built in 1968. The stadium is owned by Botafogo Futebol Clube, commonly referred to Botafogo-SP, and its name honors the neighborhood where it was built (Santa Cruz do José Jacques). History The inaugural match was played on January 21, 1968, when Botafogo Futebol Clube beat the Romania national football team 6–2. The first goal of the stadium was scored by Botafogo's player Sicupira. The stadium's attendance record currently stands at 49,358 people, set on March 17, 1993 when the Brazil national football team and the Poland national football team drew 2-2. Edson Felipe da Cruz (born 1 July 1991) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as either a centre-back or a defensive midfielder for Botafogo-SP. Club career Born in Touros, Rio Grande do Norte, Edson graduated with ABC's youth setup. He made his professional debut on 28 August 2009, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 0–1 away loss against Figueirense for the Série B championship. After being rarely used Edson joined Treze on 12 July 2012, on loan until the end of the year. He eventually returned to his parent club in January 2013, being regularly used during the campaign and scoring his first goal on 10 September, netting the first in a 4–2 home win against Sport. The 2018 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the third division. The competition started on 14 April and ended on 22 September 2018. The 2000 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A (officially the Copa João Havelange) was the 44th edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the top-level of professional football in Brazil. Due to legal complications, the championship was organized by Clube dos 13 instead of CBF, and was contested by 116 teams divided in modules, equivalent to their division—similar to the 1987 Copa União. It started on July 29 and ended on January 18, 2001, with Vasco da Gama winning the championship—its fourth title. The name of the championship was an homage to former CBF and FIFA president João Havelange.
