Bostandyq District
The Bostandyq District () is an administrative subdivision of the city of Almaty. The district has the youngest demographics with more than 71,000 students residing in it. History The Bostandyq District was first established on 31 January 1966 by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR. It was named Kalinin District and was formed in connection with the expansion of the territory, the city at the expense of the adjacent lands and the disaggregation of the Soviet District. In the early 1960s, the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy (VDNKh) opened its first pavilions; microdistricts "Koktem-1" and "Koktem-2" were built, reconstruction of the southern outskirts of the city began. Regions Of Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is divided into 17 regions (; ; ; ) and 4 cities. The regions are further subdivided into districts of Kazakhstan, districts (; ; ; ). The four cities, Almaty, Baikonur, Shymkent, and the capital city Astana, do not belong to their surrounding regions. Initially there were 14 regions. On 16 March 2022, President of Kazakhstan, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that three new regions would be created. Abai Region was created from East Kazakhstan Region with its capital in Semey. Ulytau Region was created from Karaganda Region with its capital in Jezkazgan. An ''akim'' (, , әкімдер / ''äkimder''; ; , ) is the head of a local government in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. ''Akim'' is derived from the Arabic word '' hakim'', which means "ruler" or "governor". Al-Farabi Kazakh National University
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (), also called KazNU or KazGU, is a national research university located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Named after philosopher and scholar al-Farabi, it is one of the country's largest universities. KazNU is Kazakhstan's oldest classical university. It was established on November 13, 1933 by a resolution from the Soviet Communist Party's Kazakh Regional Committee. Kazakhfilm (, ''Qazaqfilm'', pronounced ) is a Kazakh film studio located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. History The film studio was founded in 1934 as the Alma-Ata newsreel studio, in 1936 the first documentaries were released. On November 15, 1941, the Alma-Ata film studio merged with the Mosfilm and Lenfilm film studios evacuated to Kazakhstan to the Central United Film Studio - TsOKS, which worked in Alma-Ata until 1944 and produced 80% of all domestic feature films during the war. On January 9, 1960, from the Alma-Ata film studio of feature and newsreel films, it was renamed into the Kazakhfilm film studio.
