Borlée Family
The Borlée family is a sporting family consisting of Jacques Borlée and six of his seven children. The family The patriarch of the Borlée family is Jacques Borlée (born 1957), bronze medalist at the 1983 European Athletics Indoor Championships, 1983 European Indoor Championships in Budapest in the 200 m, while his first wife, :nl:Edith Demaertelaere, Edith Demaertelaere (born 1964), was a good sprinter with a personal best of 23.89. Six of his seven children are athletes (the first five born from the first marriage with Edith, the last two born from a second marriage). The 1968 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XIX Olympiad () and officially branded as Mexico 1968 (), were an international multi-sport event held from 12 to 27 October 1968, in Mexico City, Mexico. These were the first Olympic Games to be staged in Latin America, the first to be staged in a Hispanophone, Spanish-speaking country, and the first to be staged in the Global South. 110 Metres Hurdles
The 110 metres hurdles, or 110-metre hurdles, is a hurdling track and field event for men. It is included in the athletics (sport), athletics programme at the Summer Olympic Games. The female counterpart is the 100 metres hurdles. As part of a racing event, ten hurdles of in height are evenly spaced along a straight course of 110 metres. They are positioned so that they will fall over if bumped into by the runner. Fallen hurdles do not carry a fixed time penalty for the runners, but they have a significant pull-over weight which slows down the run. Like the 100 metres sprint, the 110 metres hurdles begins in the starting blocks. For the 110 m hurdles, the first hurdle is placed after a run-up of 13.72 metres (45 ft) from the starting line. Gabre Gabric
Ljubica Gabrić-Calvesi (17 October 1914 – 16 December 2015), known as Gabre Gabric, was a Dalmatian Italian track and field athlete who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics and in the 1948 Summer Olympics. Her best discus throw was 43.35 m (1939). Biography Ljubica Gabrić was born in Imotski, Croatia (then part of Austria-Hungary). She was wife of Sandro Calvesi, an Italian athletic coach (hurdles), and mother-in-law of Eddy Ottoz (grandmother of Laurent Ottoz and Patrick Ottoz). The 1936 Summer Olympics (), officially the Games of the XI Olympiad () and officially branded as Berlin 1936, were an international multi-sport event held from 1 to 16 August 1936 in Berlin, then capital of Nazi Germany. Berlin won the bid to host the Games over Barcelona on the 29th IOC Session on 26 April 1931. Ottoz Family
The Ottoz family is a sporting family consisting of many athletes, one of whom became a manager in the world of athletics. Sandro Calvesi (1913–1980), the '' capostipite'' of the Calvesi family, coached the Italian hurdler Eddy Ottoz (born 1944), who afterwards became his son-in-law through his marriage with Lyana Calvesi. Calvesi was also the first coach of French Olympic champion Guy Drut. He was also the promoter of the athletic club, ''Atletica Brescia''. Sandro Calvesi
Alessandro "Sandro" Calvesi (5 September 1913 – 20 November 1980) was an Italian athletics coach. Biography Married to 1936 and 1948 Olympian Gabre Gabric, among the people he coached was the Italian hurdler Eddy Ottoz, after became his son-in-law, married to his daughter Lyana Calvesi. Ottoz set the Italian national record in the 110 metres hurdles while winning the bronze medal at the 1968 Olympics and was the dominant European hurdler of the 1960s. The record lasted for almost 26 years until it was bested by Calvesi's grandson, Laurent Ottoz, Eddy's son. Another grandson Patrick Ottoz also became a top ranked hurdler. Julien Watrin (born 27 June 1992) is a Belgian Sprint (running), sprinter specialising in the 400 metres. In 2023, he won his first individual major senior medal, with silver at the 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships, European Indoor Championships. Watrin earned several major medals with national men's 4 × 400 metres relay, 4 × 400 m relays, including bronzes at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, 2019 and 2022 World Athletics Championships. He is the List of Belgian records in athletics, Belgian record holder for the 400 metres hurdles, 400 m hurdles, Belgian indoor record holder for the 400 m, and won several national titles.
