Borja Golán
Borja Golán (born 6 January 1983 in Santiago de Compostela) is a Spanish retired professional squash player. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 5 in April 2014. Career overview In August 2009, in the Colombian Open final, Borja suffered serious injury to his right knee which kept him out of action for six months. He reached the top ten World Ranking the month following the tournament. About three years later, in 2013, he succeeded to climb back into the top 10. In November, he reached the semi-final of the Qatar Classic winning in quarter-final against the seed No. 1 Grégory Gaultier in a tense and controversial match. And in December, he was runner-up of the Hong Kong Open against Nick Matthew, his first PSA World Series final. He announced his retirement in May 2023. Squash is a racket-and- ball sport played by two or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow, rubber ball. Grégory Gaultier (born 23 December 1982, in Épinal, France) is a former professional squash player from France. He has won the 2015 World Open Squash Championship, the British Open three times, in 2007, 2014 and 2017, the Qatar Classic in 2011, the US Open twice, in 2006 and 2013, the Tournament of Champions in 2009, and the PSA World Series Finals thrice, in 2008, 2009 and 2016. Nicholas Matthew (born 25 July 1980 in Sheffield) is a former English professional squash player who has won the two most prestigious tournaments in the professional game, the British Open and the World Open, three times each. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 1 in June 2010. His home club is Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club in Sheffield which has named 'The Nick Matthew Showcourt' after him. The PSA World Series (formerly known as the PSA Super Series) was a series of men's and women's squash tournaments which were part of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour for the squash season.
