Border City is a hamlet (New York), hamlet on the border of the Geneva, New York, City of Geneva in Ontario County, New York, Ontario County and the Waterloo (town), New York, Town of Waterloo in Seneca County, New York, Seneca County, New York (state), New York, United States, near Seneca Lake (New York), Seneca Lake. It dates back to 1788 when the Pre-Emption Line was drawn from the Pennsylvania border to Lake Ontario, thus creating Upstate New York. The "Border" referred to is the former Massachusetts and New York border. It is when Phelps & Gorham secured the purchase of 6+ million acres from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that the State of New York that we now know was created. Geneva is a city in Ontario and Seneca counties in the U.S. state of New York. It is at the northern end of Seneca Lake; all land portions of the city are within Ontario County; the water portions are in Seneca County. The population was 13,261 at the 2010 census. The town and its major community are named after Waterloo, Belgium, where Napoleon was defeated. There is also a village called Waterloo, the primary county seat of Seneca County. New York State Route 5 (NY 5) is a state highway that extends for across the state of New York in the United States. Seneca Lake State Park is a state park located in Seneca County, New York in the United States. The park is at the north end of Seneca Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. The park is south of and between Geneva and Waterloo. Description Seneca Lake State Park offers a beach, picnic tables, biking, boat launches, fishing and ice fishing.
