Booker T. Washington High School (Houston)
Booker T. Washington High School (nicknamed "Booker T.") is a secondary school located in the Independence Heights community in Houston, Texas. Washington serves grades 9 through 12, and is a part of the Houston Independent School District. The school has a neighborhood program that serves neighborhoods outside the 610 Loop and inside Beltway 8 in the northwest part of Houston, including the neighborhoods of Independence Heights, Highland Heights, and most of Acres Homes. The school was named after education pioneer Booker T. Washington. The High School For Engineering Professions is located on the campus. KRIV (channel 26) is a television station in Houston, Texas, United States. It is owned and operated by the Fox network through its Fox Television Stations division alongside KTXH (channel 20), which airs MyNetworkTV programming. The two stations share studios on Southwest Freeway (I-69/ US 59) in Houston; KRIV's transmitter is located near Missouri City, Texas. Established in 1971 as an independent station under the KVRL call sign and later as KDOG-TV, channel 26 hit its stride after being sold to Metromedia in 1978; it was then renamed in honor of the Metromedia executive who had encouraged the company to purchase it. Stephen Pool Waltrip High School is a public high school located at 1900 West 34th Street in Houston, Texas, United States. The school's namesake is a former principal at the defunct Houston Heights High School, who transferred to Reagan High School (now renamed Heights High School) after that school replaced the original Houston Heights High.
