Bogdan Musioł
Bogdan Musiol (born 25 July 1957 in Świętochłowice, Silesia, Poland) is an East German-German bobsledder who competed from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. The former shot putter started pushing bob sleighs in 1977 for pilot Horst Bernhard. Behind Horst Schönau he became world champion for the first time in 1978. He also pushed for Bernhard Germeshausen, Meinhard Nehmer, Bernhard Lehmann, Detlef Richter and finally Wolfgang Hoppe. Competing in five Winter Olympic Games, he won seven medals with one gold (Four-man: 1980), five silvers (Two-man: 1984, 1988; Four-man: 1984, 1988, 1992), and one bronze (Two-man: 1980). Musiol also won seven medals at the FIBT World Championships with three golds (Two-man: 1989, Four-man: 1978, 1991), two silvers (Four-man: 1982, 1987), and two bronzes (Two-man: 1990, Four-man: 1989). Świętochłowice
Świętochłowice (; ; ) is a city with powiat rights in Silesia in southern Poland, near Katowice. FIBT World Championships 1991
The FIBT World Championships 1991 took place in Altenberg, Germany (Bobsleigh) and Igls, Austria (Skeleton). This was Altenberg's first time hosting a championship event. Igls was hosting its third, doing so previously in 1935 (Two-man) and 1963. It marked the first time a unified German team competed since World War II with East Germany and West Germany having been unified the previous year. Detlef Richter
Detlef Richter (born 6 June 1956 in Leipzig, Saxony) is an East German bobsledder who competed from the late 1970s to the late 1980s. He won a bronze medal in the four-man event at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Richter also won five medals at the FIBT World Championships with three silvers (Two-man: 1985, Four-man: 1979, 1985) and two bronzes (Two-man: 1986, Four-man: 1983). Bernhard Lehmann (born 11 January 1948 in Großräschen, Brandenburg) is an East German bobsledder who competed from the late 1970s to the late 1980s. Competing in three Winter Olympics, he won four medals with one gold (Four-man: 1976), two silvers (Two-man and four-man: both 1984), and one bronze (Two-man: 1988). Meinhard Nehmer
Meinhard Nehmer (born 13 January 1941 in Boblin near Pölitz, Pomerania) is a former East German bobsledder who competed from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he won four medals with three golds (Two-man: 1976, Four-man: 1976, 1980) and one bronze (Two-man: 1980). Nehmer also carried the East German flag during the opening ceremonies of the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. He also won four medals at the FIBT World Championships with one gold (Four-man: 1977), two silvers (Two-man: 1978, Four-man: 1979), and one bronze (Four-man: 1978). Bobsleigh or bobsled is a winter sport in which teams of 2 to 4 athletes make timed speed runs down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks in a gravity-powered sleigh. International bobsleigh competitions are governed by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (formerly the FIBT).
