Boekel
Boekel () is a municipality and a town in the southern Netherlands. Etymology Previously it was assumed the name Boekel referred to the forest ("loo" in Dutch) of the lords Boc, similar to places like Boxmeer and Boxtel. The lords Boc were the first lords of Lijst van heren en vrouwen van Boxmeer, Boxmeer, but have no connection to the other two places. Currently, it is presumed that the name derives from ''Beukeloo'', which is a type of beech forest. Venhorst
Venhorst is a village in the municipality of Boekel, Netherlands. History The village was founded as Sint-Jozefpeel after the large-scale Peel (Netherlands), Peel reclamation began, that is after 1920. In 1934 the parish church was consecrated: even now the existing Joseph of Nazareth, Sint-Jozef church. In particular, the Posterijen, Telegrafie en Telefonie (Nederland), PTT insisted on renaming the village, to avoid confusion with other places. From 1936 the village was called Venhorst, after the many rates (water), fens that occurred in the area and the Horst (geology), horst on which the village lay. Gradually the village grew. Uden-Veghel
Uden-Veghel is a polycentric metropolitan area, centred on the towns of Uden and Veghel, in the east of the province of North Brabant in the southern Netherlands. It consists of the neighbouring municipalities of Maashorst (merger of Uden and Landerd in 2022) and Meierijstad (merger of Schijndel, Sint-Oedenrode, and Veghel in 2017) with the surrounding municipalities of Bernheze and Boekel. The province of North Brabant established the partnership in 2002 for spatial planning purposes, and stated that the municipalities of Uden and Veghel are complementary to each other. Uden
Uden () is a town and former municipality in the province of North Brabant, in the Netherlands. Since 2022 it has been part of the new municipality of Maashorst. History Uden was first recorded around 1190 as "Uthen". However, earlier settlements have been found in the areas of modern-day Moleneind, Vorstenburg and Bitswijk and evidence of Ice Age settlements has been found near the hamlet of Slabroek. Zeeland is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the former municipality of Landerd, about 5 km northeast of Uden. History The village was first mentioned in 1376 as Zeelant, and refers to Terra Salica, an inheritance system which excluded women. Ravenstein, Netherlands
Ravenstein is a city and a former municipality in the south of the Netherlands, in the province of North Brabant. The former municipality covered an area of 42.68 km² (of which 0.96 km² water). Volkel
Volkel ( Brabantian: ''Vollekul'') is a village in the Netherlands. It is situated in the north-east corner of the province of North Brabant, south-east of the town of Uden. On 1 January 2021, Volkel had 3,435 inhabitants. It used to be part of the municipality of Uden, before being merged into the municipality of Maashorst in 2022.
