Bo Holmström (tennis)
Bo Eddie Holmström (born 15 May 1943) is a Swedes, Swedish former tennis player. Career Holmström made his debut for Sweden Davis Cup team, Sweden in the Davis Cup competition during 1964 Davis Cup Europe Zone, 1964 Europe Zone first-round tie against Greece Davis Cup team, Greece, losing his singles match against Nicky Kalogeropoulos. In the 1966 Davis Cup Europe Zone, 1966 first round, against Poland Davis Cup team, Poland, Holmström played both the singles and the doubles rubbers. In his first singles rubber he lost to Wieslaw Gasiorek while beating Piotr Jamroz in the second. In the doubles he teamed up with Lars Ölander, losing to Gasiorek and Wieslaw Nowicki. In Grand Slam tennis, Holmström, as a lucky loser, qualified for the 1965 Wimbledon Championships – Men's singles, 1965 Wimbledon Championships losing in the first round to the Australian, Robert Howe (tennis), Bob Howe. Robert (Bob) Howe (3 August 1925 – 30 November 2004) was an Australian tennis player. Although he won 29 singles titles, his main successes were achieved in the doubles competition. He won four mixed doubles Grand Slam titles, including the Wimbledon mixed doubles championship in 1958. Lucky Loser
A lucky loser is a sports competitor (player or team) who loses a match in a knockout tournament or loses in qualifying, but who then enters the main draw. This can occur when another competitor withdraws during the tournament because of illness, injury, or other reasons, in which case the lucky loser re-enters the competition in place of the withdrawn competitor, or due to the structure of the tournament. Lars Ölander
Lars Gösta Ölander (29 June 1942 – 5 August 2020) was a former tennis player from Sweden. Career Ölander represented his country in the Davis Cup competition and in the 1965 Europe Zone first-round tie against Poland he played the second singles rubber against Wieslaw Gasiorek, losing in straight sets and in the reverse singles he beat Wieslaw Nowicki in four sets. Sweden won the first-round tie, but lost, 2–3 in the second round, to Czechoslovakia with Ölander playing in both the singles and doubles. In 1966, once again against Poland in the first round, he played the doubles rubber with Bo Holmström, losing in four sets to Gasiorek and Nowicki. Ölander won the Swedish National Championships in 1967, beating Sven Davidson in the final. He also made his Grand Slam debut in 1967 at the French Championship, losing in the first round to Alex Metreveli.
